And as always proper rod selection plays a huge role

Thanks Luke. I fish SW Florida. What you say (10 vs 20 braid) is true. The 10 casts farther. Both break the same with big Snook around barnacled dock posts.

I think a big tip a lot of people overlook is how far down your rod the bait is hanging when you go to cast. If it's too far down or too short it doesnt load the rod nearly as well. I like to let my bait hang around a third of the actual rod part (not including handle.)

I usually have a leader so i just let it hang to where the leader knot is not in the guides

What rods are you using?

Back your reel with quality mono for the first 75 yards or so….then go with your braid. It will save money in the long run as you are using less braid. I typically finish my line with a fluorocarbon leader of about 24-30”.

When you say "smaller" line what you're actually saying is smaller "diameter", not just necessarily smaller tensile. I don't want to throw anyone under the bus or get @saltstrong in a pinch so I'll just add the composition or build of the line is critical as well. There are brands that concentrate on how a line is built specifically for certain techniques and they absolutely work better.

Does using light line on a bait caster make it cast farther too
@Saltstrong3 жыл бұрын
Going thinner on line isn't as beneficial to baitcasting reels as it is to spinning reels.
