This was a great topic to cover. I think this will bring a lot of people in. Super catchy. Hopefully they check out other stuff too because I think there are people who worship at the altar of FICO but don't realize how much better off they'd be with more common sense financial advice or even what benefits other things you teach offer. I used to be a hardcore Dave Ramsey fan, no credit cards, no debt, etc. But now I find that his methods are too restrictive for me personally. How about increasing your total credit limit by increasing the credit limit of one of your credit cards as oppose to opening up a new one? Example: you have 2 credit cards, both of which have a limit of $2000, giving you a total credit line of $4000. You increase the limit of one of the credit card to $4000, which turns the total credit limit to $6000. Will this have a positive impact?

Since charge cards don't have an impact on your credit utilization ratio, closing them doesn't have a credit score impact. However it does have an impact on your length of credit history.

i'd say 2 max at a time. You also dont want to completely lower your avg length of credit history. @patelivision
