Always feel a big issue is people in mutual funds when they don’t even know what it’s invested in. I’m guilty of this. Set up a Roth IRA though my local bank advisers and then during the big bull run of 2019 noticed my returns where nowhere near the market performance. Found out I was in three different bond funds. I was so disappointed I paid a termination fee to move my Roth IRA to vanguard. Sold the investments and bought VTSAX! Great video!

I'm trying to get to a point where I can set it and forget it. Starting with small goals of let's say $200 a month in passive income. At first I bought what looked good. Such a waste of time and money. Haha. Research and stick to what's stable.
@humphrey4 жыл бұрын
$200 a month would be amazing. I think thats a good first goal to get to!

This was hands down the best video I've watched on beginner mistakes to avoid. I've been researching for awhile now and feeling super overwhelmed about "timing the market" but this video just instantly changed my mindset. I'm excited to get started!! Thanks for the awesome video Humphrey, super clear and I learned so much :)

Here’s a question... what determines my tax bracket for the year. I saw your TikTok about tax brackets, and I understand what you explained. (Because you did an awesome job at it) but I’ve been in the 22% tax bracket all year. Am I in the 22% because of my last years taxable income? But then that doesn’t make sense to me. Just curious is all.
@humphrey4 жыл бұрын
What was your income last year and this year? I can investigate for you.

Humphrey Yang last year I was at 73k. This year so far I’m at 35k. I think I have an idea why, but I’m curious what you have to say.

Your last point is the hardest to figure out for beginners. Particularly, how do you strategize investing your savings for a short-term large purchase (e.g. house payment). It's risky, but likely better than losing to inflation in a saving account

Thanks for the video! I have just begun to invest in the market. What do you think about investing in a high return ETF like ARKK with a high 0.75% expense ratio that has a 52 week gain of ~ 150% vs an S&P 500 ETF of 0.04% expense with a 52 week gain of ~ 15%?

Hi! I love your videos. I'm currently 19 and I wish to start a small investment. However, I have noticed that Robinhood is currently only available for people in the US. Are there any alternatives for people that are currently living abroad? Additionally, it would be really awesome if you could talk about the significance of Yield, YTD return and Expense ratio. I found explanations online but I didn't find them quite reliable. Edit: Vanguard Global does not include the country that I am currently living in. Could there be any other option? As always, thank you for the free lessons!
@humphrey4 жыл бұрын
Yes there usually are a bunch of options. What country are you in? Did you google "no commission brokerage in XXX country"?
@jwhimself12584 жыл бұрын
Humphrey Yang I am currently in Cambodia and it seems like there’s only forex trading and cryptocurrency which are considered safe and other than that, I couldn’t find any other information. I’ve looked into some other options and it seems like Canada doesn’t have tax issues unlike the US for foreigners. Would Canada be a good place to start? I will serve the military for two years in Korea due to it being mandatory and go for a Canadian university and I thought it would be a good start.
