I had no milk for 10 days and accepted the fact that my baby would never get 100% of my breast milk. I was only pumping 1/4th to 1 ounce an hour! I decided to not give up and I pumped every 2-3 hours for 20 minutes and fast forward 10 weeks later he not only gets 3 ounces of my milk every feeding but I have 20 3 ounce portion bags in the freezer!!! Do Not Give Up. Momma you WILL produce milk!!!!!! It takes time.

Actually, fenugreek would help in increasing milk supply without affecting blood sugar levels, if it is incorporated in the diet along with other foods. I'm an Indian, and in my country fenugreek is used as a condiment to add flavor to dishes. I like your videos on breastfeeding. It would be great if you could make a video on those issues with breastfeeding that are not so popularly known - using nipple shield and how to wean from it, milk blisters or blebs, things to know while breastfeeding beyond 6 months or a year, etc. As a first time mom, I have to do a lot of research on such topics.

Oatmeal is my go to along with brewers yeast. I try to recommend doing everything with diet and water intake before utilizing bandaids. I have found that improper flange sizes and pump suction setting can make women feel as if their supply is lacking.

I have low supply, my baby dropped to 2nd weight percentile so I have to supplement with formula. I tried literally everything aside from prescription medicine. Power pumping helped a little, but other than that the only thing that has helped is fennel and clary sage essential oils. Usually I'm not very sensitive to essential oils, but they actually worked for me. I dilute them with carrier oil and then rub around upper breasts and lymph areas a few times a day. You just can't use fennel more than 10 days in a row.

My baby is 4 months now and my milk is starting to dry up. I am only pumping about half and ounces now. My baby falls asleep on the boob and we don't get to do a whole 20 mins. I don't drink enough water I know sure and maybe not eating the right foods or enough foods.

Hi Shay Lynn, I had problems very similar. Sometimes I didn't drink enough water, but then again even when I did it didn't seem like water help much. I then learned that my body was severely dehydrated. My mouth would go very dry at night and water alone didn't help, so I started to think about jelly like substances to add hydration to my body. I started to put boiled flaxseed gel in my food and water and it worked wonders for my supply and my overall health. If you are still looking to increase your supply I say give it a try.

I’ve been taking the fenugreek every night. My milk supply has been steady but I still supplement with formula to get enough volume. My dr. Recommended the blue Gatorade and I have it on hand, I’m not sure it really increased my supply that much for the cost. I’ve had a really great diet and try to get liquids in. I think the thing that would help my supply the most would be to pump more often and throughout the night. Right now, I haven’t been committed to the time required and am happy with making up the difference with formula.

I am an exclusive pumper and my daughter never latched on but three times and never more than a few minutes, and my supply is almost non existent now and I'm trying to start relactation should I be taking a postnatal or still prenatal vitamins? Do you think have my first baby at 40 is possible reason I am not producing?
@stacyedo6007
@stacyedo6007 3 жыл бұрын
Nope age has nothing to do with it. I’m 31 and I’m going through the same. Stay on the prenatal vitamins. Breastfeeding/ exclusively pumping is very challenging and time consuming. I have made peace with supplementing with formula and mixing with how ever many ounces I pump and keep it moving. I also do not get a chance to pump every 2-3 hours due to having 2 other kids to care for and house work and it all gets overwhelming for me so I do it when I can. As long as she is getting some type of nutrients from me I’m happy.

Hi Im interested to know more about your sons tongue tie! My son was born with one as well and wasnt making gains while breastfeeding I quickly turned to bottlefeeding and he completely quit breast, he is now 6 months and they have not fixed his tongue tie because "he eats and gains fine".. Ive thought about getting the procedure done but the doctor said it shouldnt bother him when hes older.. I was thinking about trying relactation by pump since hes never been able to latch good 😟 just any info about your experience with your sons tongue tie would help, thank you.

I'm not a lactation consultant but I thought you might be interested in hearing my experience: I had trouble breastfeeding as an infant in the '90s with a tongue tie and doctors then didn't think a tongue tie would cause any long-term damage. I am now, as an adult, going to a myofunctional therapist to look into getting my tongue tie removed because it possibly is the cause of my sleep apnea. I would highly recommend getting your son's tongue tie removed when he's young (even if you're not breastfeeding anymore) because it could prevent health issues down the road. 🙂
