Is it bad for the machine to use reverse osmosis water to reduce/eliminate lime scale buildup? It has a stainless boiler so it should be ok I assume?

Hi Steve, Thanks for the question. We do not recommend using RO water in espresso machines For a couple of reasons. First, it makes terrible tasting coffee. With no minerals in RO water it's a very aggressive solvent. It over-extracts coffee resulting in bitter flavors. Second, due to it's aggressive nature RO water can cause corrosion of metals over time. One reason why you will not see pure RO water transported or stored in metals.

I can't find anywhere how long the cord is that comes with the Gaggia Brera, not even on the Gaggia site. This is important due to where I need to place the machine. So, how long is the cord?

Hi Connie, The Brera's power cord is 46" long.

Hi Mary, The scoop holds about 7g. Depends on the coffee type. Light roast is more dense than dark.
