How to inspect, clean, and adjust Drum brakes (hyundai accent)

Self adjusting brake, whenever the shoes are worn and the brake peddle is pushed there's a lever that rotates the star wheel, which pushes the shoes closer to the drum. If that doesn't happen then clean the star wheel mechanism especially the threads on the star wheel. If you install new shoes you will have to adjust the star wheel mechanism to it's minimum travel, replace the drum and pump the brake pedal, you'll hear a clicking sound everytime you pump the pedal, that's the indication the self adjuster is working to push the shoes into the drum.

2007 accent has 4 wheel disk brakes you would think they would have done that with every model.

drum brakes are not adjusted manually..it has a self adjust mechanism..you only move that adjustment if you change a new brake shoe that has a thick shoe to fit...if you adjust it manually it makes the rear drum brakes more power that suppose to be the front brakes is more important braking power that result in over all less braking power..even you makes that brake shoe losse inside that drum brakes while you braking it will adjust it self..you do it very wrong sir

The self adjuster is not perfect, and depending on the setup they will either only adjust when using the parking brake, or when braking in reverse. I’ve seen many drums way out of adjustment that are “self adjusting.” Drum adjustment has nothing to do with making them more powerful than the front. That’s the job of the proportioning valve, if equipped. Otherwise it’s taken care of in the ABS module. They will allow the front brakes to apply before the rear to prevent the rear from locking up.

So what is the purpose of design of engineers that they design that self adjust?before i do that but i felt that the braking system is not good in hi speed braking
