Thanks for this.. It was difficult finding a video that had the vehicle problem addressed. Most seemed to assume the vehicle had an 4 wire adapter built in. Not true for my 2002 Forester. Also, great to see a genuine old Simpson meter! Mine have long ago gotten broken and now I have several of the free meters from Harbor Freight. Sorry but I probably won't wait for the Amazon delivery. I've been towing this trailer for a while with incorrectly wired lights.

No problem Jim. Glad to clear things up. The old simpson meters are the best I much prefer analog to digital.

Also need an adapter for a 2012 RAV4. No other source tells you this. Instructions just say "connect to turn/brake left" or right. And that doesn't give you brake lights.

Thanks for the video, my dog ate my connector off of my bronco. Whoever wired it before did some weird color mismatch rainbow puzzle. My dogs also ate my trailer wires a year ago but I just had to change the whole thing so it was easier.

After you hook up the wiring, how are you running out of the vehicle to the trailer itself? I see a hole in the bumper where it looks like i can run the wire, but im having a tough time fishing it through. I'm curious how you did that. Thank you for the tutorial

You kan remove small pieces of elektikal tape and wrap the wire it's easier than stikking and entire roll between a wire bible.

Hello, I’m hoping you can help with this. I have a truck that when I plug the trailer lights in it shorts the brake light fuse. Then when I shut the truck lights off, the trailer lights stay on. I have took it back to the shop three times and they keep saying they fixed it. There was “shorted wires”
@redneckryan2 ай бұрын
@Letter2Mgmt that's a tough one to troubleshoot over the internet. I would start by taking the trailer bulbs out and testing all wires for a short to ground. If there are no shorts to ground on the trailer the problem is with the wiring on the vehicle side. Use a volt meter or test light to isolate the issue. You could contact the manufacturer of the trailer light adaptor.

Yeah there are a couple of different ways that can work but typically, trailer bulbs have two intensities. The low beam will be running lights when your headlights are on and the high beam is for break and signal. The 4 puns on the connector are ground or common. Low beam(both tail lights low). Left high. And right high. When you break it will typically turn both signals on. You might find this configuration on an older vehicle, but most modern vehicles use separate bulbs for brake and signal.
