Water would be a concern. Salt water, especially. But a really nice idea . I have been away for a bit, I finished up a transmission swap on an auto cruze. You have made really nice progress. Also, what happens if the 2 step switch turns on while driving if accidentally pushed?

Hey Jeff! It has been a while, how’ve you been? If I hit the 2 step button while driving nothing will happen because it has to be below the set rpm for the button to activate 🙂

@StationroadRatrods been working my daily job and keeping my fleet alive. My son's s80 2.5 took a dump internally, but it runs, but at temp vibration is horrible. Main bearing spun, I believe a lot of shiny bits in the oil filter. The newest cruz had no reverse so I attempted to fix the trans . But to no avail I wasn't able to get it back together due to some fine splines being bent in the wrong direction. Ouch 1900$ later for a used unit that was tested and working was the only way to beat the snow fall here in ny. It's close to my house by 40 miles . You have made excellent progress and been driving the truck around as well . Log manifold was a nice touch for sure. Hope things keep going well on the bulid. Happy holidays

Does 2step still work if you only have an aftermarket exhaust and a stock engine?

I always worry about rivets in plastic pulling the end thru but i haven't really used them in plastic

So far so good, but there are rivets made specifically for plastic that have wider fingers at the back. I’ll order some if this pulls through

@StationroadRatrods oh Jesus you're still running the 60e yeah that's gotta go 😂 she needs a proper 4L80E. The swap is pretty affordable, honestly not much to it need a different cross member, an adapter harness thats plug and play, and then have to get with a tuner to reprogram the computer to control it

I’ve done 80e wiring swaps, it’s not a big deal. I also tune with HpTuners so that’s covered too. They’re not really cheap transmissions around here so I need to wait until I can afford a full 2500 truck and get the driveshafts and all. I’d switch today if I had everything

@StationroadRatrods oh ok. I suppose down here in Texas they're just very plentiful. I believe when we did the 80e swap on my brothers Tahoe he only paid like $900 for a remanufactured unit from a transmission shop.
