Hey. Just a thought. You think you could build an engine from nothing more than parts you have or get for free/swap. $1000 total budget including belts,fluids, gaskets, etc. like every time you buy anything for it, you post the receipt and deduct it from the budget. You could also increase the budget if you sell something from the truck, like the LS flywheel and clutch. Could be a good series for the winter.

For your seam, use Panel Bond. The double barrel mixing guns aren't as expensive as they used to be and it will last A LOT longer on the urethane than any other filler. Also keep in mind those panels are whats called a ThermoSET Urethane, not a thermoplastic so reworking via heat is more difficult. Another tip when using hot staples, set them in and give them a little twist, then fill the cavity they create with panel bond as well. This gets the staple under the parent material and the adhesive helps lock them in after curing. Hope this all helps, this is a very cool project!

Good Morning from Texas! I have been wondering about these! I have the speed engineering "cold" air intake and it is junk. It's powdercoated but the mounting brackets were not even close. I kept the tube, however, and ran it into a stock box. The Speedshark brackets look much better. I would upgrade the clamps on the CAI. Make sure to plug your upper radiator hose plastic clamp into the hole of the CAI bracket. Headers; the driver's side plug interference is bad. Do you think clearancing it would help? Header clearance on the passenger side to frame was horrible from the looks of it. Gasket fitment was horrible too. Collector studs seem to have full engagement on both ends, so those look fine to me. The y-pipe fitment is a no-deal for me. How new are your motor mounts? Great review!!!!!!
@StationroadRatrods
@StationroadRatrods 2 күн бұрын
Hey man, how hot is it in Texas right now? 😁 Thanks for reminding me, I need to replace that clip on the hose, I broke it when I removed it from the original hose. Sorry to hear about your intake not fitting right, this one was actually an easy install. I had to replace one clamp when I broke it, they could be beefier. The headers were a task and a half. I still wonder if the jig was off on the passenger side. There was lots of room for it to be closer to the transmission, and that would have helped with the alignment of the Y pipe. I didn’t think about it until my buddy Jorge mentioned I could have used a comealong or a ratchet strap to ply the collector away from the frame. I did see another guys review of the same headers and he had to dent the same pipe a little bit but nowhere near what I had to do. Mounts are new, I’ve been driving it for a few days now and haven’t had any issues with noises or anything. I’ll do a video after a bit of time driving with it and see how they fair. Thanks man, I appreciate it

@@StationroadRatrods Let's see, born and raised here. Just turned 49. Last week we were digging holes with a tractor and auger for a new backyard fence and it was a feels like 108 degrees at 8p. lol A much cooler feels like 99 yesterday when I was hand digging them to final depth last night. I looked at several other videos and the quality seems to be all over the place. So much so I emailed Flashark. They also have a SS set for our trucks with no cats and has no Loop in that one header. lol It makes no sense. I saw one review on YT where he bolted the headers down to the engine and then ratchet strapped by the collectors to pull them closer to the block. He also moved that one header tube with a press which worked well. Most of the headers for this platform have to be dented, but if you go to Flasark's YT page, there is a guy that installs the non-loop, non-cat, non-SS headers on a Silverado with absolutely no modifications, which as I told Flashark in email, is either a bad video as they did not show the modifications or a great set of headers since there was no mention of any modification. The only difference I saw between this video and others is that all the others were 4wd/AWD, BUT I don't see that to make a difference since the areas of issue have nothing to do with the drive UNLESS 4wd/AWD frames are differenct. Are your motor mounts GM? I went with anchor and I am concerned. lol Did you hear back from Flashark? You are most welcome! Keep up the great work. Love the build. I have been looking for Stainless Headers with short small cats for my 2005 2wd Silverado with a swapped 6.0. Off to KZbin to see reviews of your different setups. Review one was not great as the Sponsored channel was installing your SS headers that have the loop on the driver's side with cats. Major work was needed to even get the headers to fit. Spark plug wires were also hitting the loop on the driver's side. Y-pipe fitment at the slip fit between each side was poor at best. Review done this week. Review two was a little better as the y-pipe appeared to be a flawless install and fitment was perfect. However, all the other issues remained. Review two months old. Review three was not the same header as above as it was painted, no loop and no cats and it was on your KZbin channel. The install video was either very poor or it was a flawless install with no issues. I cannot understand this and would like some clarification. I noticed these headers came in SS but without cats and I included that SKU in the subject line above. In my humble opinion, I like the non-flanged collector version, as referenced in the subject line above, as well as the non-loop driver's header that this SKU has. Is it possible to provide the y-pipe from the looped set of headers without flanges along with the non-loop SS version with the sku above? Why the difference in the headers, i.e. looped style vs. non-loop? Have the fitment issues of the looped version been fixed as seen in several videos aforementioned don KZbin? Frame interference on both sides? Spark plug wire interference? Are the non-looped version of the headers free from any modification needed due to frame interference? Thank you very much for your time and bringing several new options to the market for our truck platform! Cheers, Adam Hoskins

Just that color change made a huge difference! its gonna look awesome all one color. As for the "strength" of the door handles, my wife tore the door handle off my old '91 s10 because she thought the door was jammed, it was locked... so yeah, not much has changed.

It being all black made the truck for me. I still don’t have the cladding on, but I gotta get my ass in gear and buy some bondo lol. Newer Chevy door handles leave a lot to be desired. My uncle had a squarebody, the truck is scrapped long ago but I bet the door handle will outlive me

My only concern is,in the event of a front shaft front u-joint failure the shaft may take out the header. Can you give us a link to these products??! Please.

Hey Brian I updated the video description and have the links there now, separated for the intake and exhaust, then the actual website link 🙂 If the front shaft comes apart it’ll definitely cause damage, but I think that’s unavoidable in any case
