How to Install a 2014-2017 Hyundai Elantra front bumper cover, 3 of 3

There is nothing to be afraid of when it comes to replacing your Elantra front bumper cover. This particular customer did not want to replace his passenger side fender liner, get a new under-car shield cover, or fix his hood. We understand completely. TOOLS NEEDED: 10mm wrench or socket wrench, flat head screwdriver or panel clip pliers, and Philips screwdriver.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Hopefully, at this point, you have all the accessories, like fog lights, grille, and other things attached to your bumper. A front bumper replacement is easy as snapping a Lego on, sort of. You want to secure the bumper with the push pins up top. This is so the bumper does not slip or fall while you are snapping it on under the headlight or fender area. Make sure the holes are aligned and place the pins securely. Push in the ends by clipping them to the fender bracket. Just give a slight tape. Get the 10mm bolt and secure the bumper to the fender. This bumper is quite nice, in that it doesn't have a million clips holding the fender liners in. The fender liner sits tightly behind the fender. Repeat on the opposite side. Don't forget the bottom of the fender liner, there are two bolts that will snap onto the frame and possibly to the under-shield cover. The under car shield has two bolts in the middle of the bumper that secure it and to the fender liners. Very easy to do, sorry we could not show you, the customer just didn't think he needed it. That's it. You've installed your bumper and it was pretty easy to do.

There probably is a part number for it but I do not have it. Yes, the Phillips type push pins secure the fender liner below the bumper (5:57). You can purchase the push pins at the dealership for a few bucks. You can also purchase them at your local hardware store, autozone or o'reilly's for a few dollars each.

@@ReveMoto Thank you for the response and thank you for the video. It's very helpful. I would like to ask you your opinion about the inner fender liner. Much like in the video, a potion of the passenger side front fender linder tore off from my car. I can see the window washer fluid reserve exposed now. I actually care less about the chipped bumper because that's cosmetic. But, how critical is it to have that inner fender liner replaced? Is it ok to drive around with the wheel rotating next to the window washer fluid reserve not protected by a liner? I'd appreciate your input on this. Thank you in advance.

@@magdalenaszypulski7986 It's not critical but we would recommend replacing the liner. You don't want debris flying in the engine bay. Fender liners are usually around $50. It's definitely best to just replace to avoid any headaches in the future.

Hello Edward. Yes, you can most likely do the conversion. The fenders and hood for the elantra range from 2011-2016. The Headlights will always show to be different but make sure they are the same shape. You will probably have to buy a new grille and other accent pieces. If some of the screws are lost how can you get others

You can take a matching screw to any hardware store an buy one for a few cents. The dealership also sells the screws for around a $1 a piece or the set for $5-ish. Same applies to the plastic push pins, except you can get these at autozone/orielly instead of hardware store.

Is it possible to reattach the piece that you "pushed into" at 2:07? I got to pulling and that part got to tearing off like loose leaf on paper!

Sometimes those little tabs break in a car accident or the bracket underneath does and you won't know until you pull the bumper out. You may be able to use a plastic welder to fix the tabs but I am unsure if that is feasible. It's best to replace the bumper or you can even use some double-sided stick tape from 3m. There is a bolt that secures the bumper to the fender, the bumper snaps into the bumper bracket/retainer. If you can still secure it with the bolt you could probably tape the bumper to the fender.
