Thanks. Good views of stability with only the screws. Would it be worthwhile to put double-sided tape on inside lower edge instead of using pop rivets?

That maybe worth while doing, alright.. Thanks for the suggestion!

@@JanBartSpang inspired by your video I ordered armrest yesterday & delivered free this morning from Glyn Hopkin. Now what did I do with the roll of double-sided tape 🤔

Looking at the armrest I would be very tempted to take a saw to it to be able to use the other cup holder
@JanBartSpang3 жыл бұрын
I don't think that would look nice and it would be very hard to get a cup in and out of.. But by all means try it.. Let me know how you get on.. 🙂

So, I fitted the armrest today. How did you get on with just using the two screws? Did it eventually become unstable? Thanks Chris
@JanBartSpang Жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, It caused me no issues. But I would personally probably prefer to have the other clamps in there as well. They would protect more against any pressure from the side.

Thanks, Jan. Very useful, and it's good to know that an armrest is available, if desired. Only using the two fixing points will cause extra stress at those two screws. There's quite a lot of leverage involved when you lean on an armrest, and if one screw becomes loose, it can lead to failure. Riveting tools are easy to find, and maybe a neighbour has one which you can borrow. You might want to correct the typo in the video title, btw. In English, 'an' is used when the next word begins with a vowel. It makes the sentence easier to speak. 😉 👍

The other option is to get hold of 4 self tapping screws and fit them instead of the pop rivets
