Thanks for posting this vid! I was drivingmyself CRaY crAy trying to get the e-brake back on AFTER I bolted down the backing plate. I lost the instructions...my bad!!! However, did you notice the bolts that go to the bottom of the backing plate (also holds the e-brake) were a little short? The bolt supplied was an 10.9 hardness, M10 1.25 (thread size) x 40 (length). When I went to thread them in, they seemed a little too short for my liking. I went and bought some that were slightly longer to make me feel better. The local Ace Hardware had 10.9, M10 1.25 x 50...which worked really well, but cost $15 for 4 bolts.

Are those long studs required?

How well did the brake pads line up to the front and rear rotors? I see that the 5th Gen Camaro SS rotors are a tiny bit smaller than the zl1 rotors. From what I see from your camera angles they look like they are a perfect match. I want to do the same zl1 brakes on my 97 Z28 but using Baer Eradispeed Rotors which are lighter. But if I have to, I'll buy 2 piece ZL1 rotors but are about 6-7 pounds heavier than the Baer SS Rotors.

How much did you pay for the ZL1 calipers? They look sweet! Were they less than the CTSVs? Why did you put longer studs in? Do the APEX wheels requires them? One other thing. What brand brake hoses are you getting? I bought the Centric and they wouldn't work with the CTSV calipers. Had to get Russell.
@PE.Enterprise6 жыл бұрын
I got the russell kit aswell. I did studs so that i can run a 10mm spacer. The stock studs are supper short. I think i paid 600-800 for the calipers. I do think they are cheaper then ctsv

divergentgoat what studs did you buy? I'm nearing the end of the install. But I need rear studs.

although its a big ass brake and it is brembo, the brake has to be perfectly fit in order to performance perfectly. What you did on your gto can only look good but never performance well on track. I rather buy ksport brake kit to look good. It is way easier. For people who race on track I'd recommend Baer or Brembo, both super expensive but there is no cheap way to upgrade ur brake to racing level.
@tron1216 жыл бұрын
the baer bbk is ok. The CTSV kit he is using performs really well on track. and is cost effective.

@@tron121 The CTS-V and ZL1 Brakes are Brembo's except that they are way way cheaper but with the same performance. No lie they are the very same calipers from Brembo's 6,000 dollar European style kits that a lot of supercars uses when buyers don't want carbon fiber brakes. I don't like the plain jane rotors this guy used. I will be using Camaro SS and rear C6 rotors from Baer that are Eradispeed plus 2 piece rotors for lighter weight, looks, and the 2 piece rotors help fight brake pad kickback when cornering.

@@Savineyard3 should work well. I have the 14in willwood kit on mine. Track tested, works really well with their race pads.

Zl1 calipers are literally brembo's..... So how can you say you recommend Brembo when they are brembo? And why would SS, or Corvette guys upgrade to ZL1 brakes? I feel like you're pulling a lot of info out of your ass. ZL1 brakes brand new are not cheap, either. So again, you're entire comment is a waste of time.
