Streeter you were reading my mind, I've been toying with doing that same thing with my trailer. I was actually looking at lift shocks with those brackets to mount but I didn't know how long of a shock I would need. So you just solved my dilemma, buy the lift kit! Thanks!

Thanks. Glad it helped you out. Now that the clamshell is installed it’s mandatory. The first time I loaded up the trailer was going up and down like a see saw and the cover was just shaking back and forth. I was afraid the lifts were going to bend.

Great instructional video!! I had to modify mine as well..... no place to attach the top piece to so I had to weld mine on.
@StreetersGarage4 жыл бұрын
awesome. Do yourself a favor and coat the entire assembly with fluid film to prevent all the salt and brine from attacking it.

@@StreetersGarage will do. I sprayed rocker guard on the brackets but will spray the lift with something.
@StreetersGarage4 жыл бұрын
That works. Just don’t spray the shock cylinder when it’s extended.

Can you do the same concept, but with a stronger shock for better lifting power?
@StreetersGarage4 жыл бұрын
I would install a second one on the other side

Will this slow down the tilt when you are loading it? I need something that'll not allow it to come crashing down once the weight tips.
@StreetersGarage4 жыл бұрын
Yes it’ll slow it down make it more controllable. I would install 2 of them.

Streeters Garage I have a 500lb 5x10 trailer. Do you have a good link for the strut you used. The one you have linked just goes to amazon.

Is it a steel trailer or a aluminum. Does it have a clamshell or is it open. It’s made by Caliber.
@DIYReid4 жыл бұрын
Streeters Garage steel. It’s open.

I have 2 problems with mine as i get older, one is lifting the empty trailer to tilt position to put the first sled on if only to hold it in place for second wifes sled. Is this what this is designed for? Assist in lifting? 2nd problem is backing sled down, the tilt bed slams to the ground no matter how slow I go. Does this help with that? Any wise experienced suggestions to either of them problems?

Does the one strut hold up your trailer when two sleds are loaded?
@StreetersGarage3 жыл бұрын
Yes. But after 2 years of use. I’d recommended 2 of them.
