If you're going to 'glue' it down E6000 or 'Goop' sealer works pretty good and is heat resistant. Either of those or the silicone adhesive are good choices. That weatherstrip adhesive will separate once it goes through some high heat cycles. If you use the silicone or Goop you can put some wedges or weight on the cover to keep it down until it dries. The BEST thing I've found is if you can fit it with NO adhesive if there's enough points on the original dash to hold it or anchor it in place. In my experience of using these, that blow molded ABS plastic will expand and contract quite a bit through the heat and cold and if it's 'glued' down tends to crack from the pressure of being 'pulled' by the expansion and contraction. I know this isn't practical in all cases but the least amount of adhesive is best. I have a mid '80's box GM car and didn't use ANY sealer and 10 years later it perfect. They will warp if you use too much sealer or in the wrong places. Mine is held perfectly by the contour of the dash and the defroster vents.

From Jeff: Hey Kimber thanks for the kind words. Sadly I doubt I will be able to go this year. Mom requires 24-7 care and I don't feel comfortable leaving her for an extended time just yet.

I have watched a couple of dash replacement installs, Wonder why none hasn’t tried to use a contact spray adhesive or even a paint on, Spray would be easy enough on the existing dash with a little prep work to minimize overspray on windshield and rest of the interior, But the new cover could be sprayed effortlessly with it outside the vehicle, When the 2 pieces meet it would have a more permanent bond, Verses the silicone or other adhesive that is just along the perimeter.... Just my opinion.

The adhesives won't stick. I've tried it.

Hey jeff would this work if you have the original dash pad removed? This is what my old girl needs lol
@AutoRestoMod6 жыл бұрын
No, sadly. You have to have the pad to have a place for the cover to sit.

What if people fast forwarded through the first few minutes of you talking? What if your boss said hey bub, we're gonna fast forward through the first six hours of YOUR pay check and only pay you for two hours? And trust me bub you have corny stuff you say all the time...if not...you are a right dull person.
@johnnymula23053 жыл бұрын
@@AutoRestoMod well, i guess thats where editing would come in. “Bub” ive watched quite a few of this channels videos. Most of the time its just a quick corny joke, or something lame, but short enough to put up with. Or a quick ff hit twice to move onto the content. This one at over 6 minutes of fluff is just way to much. Sorry if your feeling got hurt Bub.
