Thanks for explaining what that small gasket/seal was for! I did not see it in the Delta instructions! (They did say to use a caulk for sealing, but did not say what the small gasket was for...)

Same reason I am here. The instructions didn't mention what to do with it. Discarding it was not my first intuition.

They didn’t use it because they used silicone instead. You can use the gasket if you don’t want to use silicone.

Thank you for putting up this video. At 1:31, she says to discard the thin gasket, because we'll use silicone. *PLEASE* add this to the instructions!!! The 25748LF-SPPD instructions say to remove the "washer" along with other parts, but it is never pictured, and it never mentions it again or tells what to do with it. I was trying to figure out how to do the silicone seal and still use the included thin gasket/washer, too.

Amen, brother. I just spent two hours trying to figure out what to do with it. Why don't the folks who write instructions either try to install something themselves first, or pay someone like me, an imbecile, and watch while he struggles and make note of the hangups?

I’m here to try and unclog this style. I have a delta like this. Are there different versions? Because when I pull up on it to get the clog cleaned out it doesn’t move. I even tried prying with screw drivers to see if it had build up preventing it. But nothing. Doesn’t budge. Please help!

I know others already stated thia, but, thanks for explaining what to do with the thin washer. The only other discrepancy is that the directions say to use silicon grease on the threads. Other videos (lack mentioning the thin washer) say that the grease is necessary to help seal because there is not enough of a water tight seal between the rubber and the pipe. So, water from the overflow area can sneak down below.

I am a fan of Delta as I had problems with my old ones leaking, and Delta sent me the parts I needed because of the lifetime warranty. That was absolutely awesome. I just purchased the Delta Eldren 25847LF-SP with the push pop drain. My old pop up drain seems to seal better. But, out with the old and in with the new. My spouse thinks this one looks more modern. Sheesh, the old ones were just 20 years old, or maybe 25 years. I have found that the push pop does NOT seal. To me, that seems like a flaw. I expected the push pop head to be flush with the flange. Now, I am just in test mode because I have not applied silicone sealer yet and that could be the problem. Tomorrow, I will dry and clean everything super dee duper. Apply my silicone sealer, which I have to go buy, and patiently wait 24 hours for the sealer to do its super secret stuff. I will also buy silicone grease for the black under sink gasket. I will be replacing the other faucet soonish because I purchased two Eldrens and we have two sinks in that bathroom. I learned with the first and did my fair share of cussing.

Any tips on how to make the stopper pop back up after you push it down. I just installed this and it gets stuck every time. You have to pull it up after you push it down to drain the sink. Is there a adjustment?

I’m fairly certain there’s an O-ring inside the drain body that shims it up enough so you can push it down far enough to disengage. Found a shredded up oring on the floor after install that matches the I.D. of the drain body and I’m having the same issue.

I got a vanity with a marble top and a bowl. After I hand tightened it, water began to leak from where the bowl met the marble. Not sure if I didn’t wait long enough or if the marble has a round shape that is not circular. I’m going to try Teflon tape on the seals.
@jngarr
@jngarr 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I had the same problem where the bowl hole is not perfectly circular and so the Delta rubber cone that is supposed to seal the drain (it assumes the hole is round) did not seat into the bowl hole enough, so it leaked -- a lot. Solution was plumbers putty (as shown by this old house). Form a "rope" of putty between hands to go around and above the rubber cone, then can put on the cone and the big nut to tighten it all up against the bowl. Excess putty fills in the out of round part of the bowl = no leak.

If you use the caulk like she suggested make sure it is 100% silicone and clear would be a good way to go. I did not use the silicone that flimsy little thing that she said to discard worked just fine on my sync your mileage may vary. Make sure the rubber gasket that is thick. Make sure it’s going the right direction when you put that on the skinny side goes up.

When I installed mine with rubber gasket above, it holds water in sink like a dam. I never get all the water out automatically. Also, my sink has overflow, so does it matter which way the lower side holes face? I noticed she removes it and uses silicone. This would probably allow the ring to get lower.
@obessive4093

I think you're having the same problem as me. I tried to install this drain this weekend and the part that sits in the sink is too thick and isn't flush so water collects around the sides and doesn't drain properly.
@ofiasdfnosdf

Yep, I'm having the same issue. I think it's just a design flaw. I'm going to try creating a smooth bead of white silicon around it so that the water will go down.

Our pop up stopper separated into two pieces when I pulled up to pull it out. Not sure if it's broken and must be replaced or can be reattached. Is there a video for this? The faucet and drain assembly were installed just 3.5 months ago. I pulled out the stopper to clean it and the drain. When I finished, I pushed the stopper back in, but it was really hard to get it in and then wasn't functioning properly. I pulled on it to take it back out in order to adjust it, but only the top half came out. I had to pull out the bottom half with pliers. There's no obvious crack or sign of breakage, but also no obvious way to reassemble the pieces. Help!

Confusing to know the drain size hole in the sink. Tough to measure with an existing drain already in place. Mine is a cultured marble vanity top, and the Lowes PO on vanity doesn’t specify the hole size. My new not yet installed Delta Nicoli comes with a push pop. I ordered a second Delta push pop for another sink, same type. Will they fit? Who knows? Mfg of the vanity sink combo no help. Must be a better way,

In typical ceramic Vessel Sink there is annular space between drain pipe outer wall and the ceramic sink bottom opening. If sink has Overflow, even with overflow type drain pipe openings, water can remain standing around the lower pipe threads below pipe drain opening, and so can corrode/destroy the metal pipe. How can I waterproof the metal Drain pipe threaded area so trapped, standing water does not destroy the metal drain pipe?

would be nice if you would have given the size of the drain pipe since it is not the standard 1 1/2, you will need to purchase a separate pipe to fit to size.

Save your silicone and use putty. It won't fail. Doesn't dry. Isn't permanent. Then can be repaired or reused later

Do didn't bother showing how to connect the drain pipe to the pipes that enter the wall... one would think this is common sense right? That they just screw together? They don't... the drain pipe has no ridges to attach to anything... it's smooth
