Well Drew you make that look way to easy. For whatever reason I get really intimidated by closer installs. I don’t do a lot but watching you do it it’s really pretty simple. Now I think I will go find some place to install one and see if there is still any anxiety. Keep the videos coming. On a side note I think I like it better when you narrate versus titles I don’t read so fast and have to watch twice once to pause and read then to watch the video. But either way they are very helpful.

Thanks for that feedback. I think I get sick of my own voice so I appreciate the info. 😆 Yeah I was intimidated by them also at first. They are super simple tho! You got this! Take the time to read the instructions. They are confusing sometimes but all the info is there.

Thanks Drew, Always helpful to see other installers methods. I think your method may save me 30 seconds a closer. FWIW: Instead of messing with paper, if we have a lot of the same units. we'll make a plywood template that rests on the top of the frame head.

Awesome! Time is money 😆. The only problem is I stand back and admire my work for like 10 minutes afterward so it really takes longer 😂

Have you installed the 6440 operator yet? They are kind of cool. I have put a few on bathroom doors with wave sensors. No issues to date

I haven’t had a chance to install yet. They look really cool.

This is crazy I’ve been told to put the cylinder on facing the ASA side of door I’m so confused now !
@drewinstallshardware4 ай бұрын
It all depends on the model. Handed Regular arm LCNs yes I believe the cylinder faces the strike side. This non-handed reversible model the cylinder goes toward the strike. It’s all about reading the instructions. 😎 thanks for checking out the channel.

Lucky you, every spec book I’ve dealt with required sex bolts on wood doors!
@drewinstallshardware5 ай бұрын
I see the sex bolts requirement on almost every hardware spec. But also, in the wood door manufacturer spec they require the doors to be made with backing. These specs contradict each other so either you have to ask the question (RFI) or install as built and supplied and u should be good. Save the sex bolts if the supplier supplied them and is actually faster to put them all in at the end of they are really needed. 😎

If they require sex bolts, we will go back after but only use two. It looks better than the four.

We’re can I get the tool you used to punch the doors with I’m sorry I don’t know how to word it better lol
@drewinstallshardware2 ай бұрын
It’s called an automatic center punch. They work great. This one is from Harbor Freight and I think the brand name is Pittsburgh. 😎

How tall are you dude? I'm 5'-10" with boots on and I can't install closers or overhead hardware without a ladder!
@drewinstallshardware5 ай бұрын
I’m just 6 foot but my 13 year old son is taller than me 😱.
@chrisanthony5795 ай бұрын
I'm 6' and my partner is around 5-9. I do closers an he does locks and exit devises simply because he needs a ladder and I don't. I'm the one with sore arms at the end of the day.

I am 4’11”, ladder needed, when I install a closer i prefer to be about chest height with top of door so there is less arm fatigue from holding closer up to door as you start the first couple of mounting screws.
