First grinder I ever had was a Dremel. Sometimes, it's the best choice for a job. A cordless dremel is pretty darn handy. Get a pocket of fiber discs, and you can cut through just about anything, without too much damage. I got the 1 9/16 M18 drill for Fathers day. About to fire it up this weekend. I got a Dewalt SDS Max to Plus adapter for it too. Hopefully I love it.

I installed a 2 head system several years ago for a fellow that had bought several off eBay. Set the outside unit between 2 areas for the heads. I cut the lines off as short as reasonable. One was around 6 feet and the other closer to 8 feet. Started and ran just fine. Next day the owner called and said one was freezing up. When and checked it. Change was good and everything seemed to be ok. Called technical support, they said it needed at least 10 of line. Don’t remember the brand, some cheap Chinese units. Changed out the lines, longer worked ok for several years but other problems eventually took it out. Only time ever had to have at least 10 foot lines.

You should give the Danfoss FSA flare adapters a go. They can be brazed on the line set instead of having to bother with flaring. Another common practice here in europe is to cut the flares at the indoor unit and solder the lineset directly to it after swaging. (Maybe also because refrigrant r32 being used over here) final suggestions there are some knockouts on the indoor mounting plate so you could just use a level and manufacturer advice is to use the 5 screw holes close to the ‘hooks’ to prevent vibration and get the studiest mounting.
@89dhvac3 жыл бұрын
The Yellow Jacket 60278 makes flares as nice as the Navac tool. Another great thing about it, you don’t have to debur the inside of your tubing, it does it for you. I use a dab of nylog to lubricate the head and that captures any copper burs that come off. Then just wipe the head off between flares.

A really solid way to fasten into concrete is set up for expanding lead anchor then put a dab of epoxy in the hole before you put the lead anchor in. Lead anchors themselves are very weak but with epoxy bond into concrete or mortar they become very strong and are removable.

You can still use the bottom connection on the junction box but it did'nt have the option for the lock ring but I see you want to use the ring so penetrated the side of the box. You know the box is no longer a UL listed product once you drilled into it now considered modified the flares I would blow with pressure it looks like theres more deburring shavings inside than originally. any way I like your videos keep up the good videos.

Just a quick question why didn’t you leave the gauges on there then release the charge. If you don’t you loose vacuum when you remove those hoses
@petersmart19992 жыл бұрын
Small units have very small charges,and these units are very resilliant! I have seen some really hacked up installs that were over 5 years old,confirmed by tge owner that no vacuum pump was used! Was told he purged the lines! But they ran flawlessly,maybe not efficiently,but they worked! I was amazed,myself!

Hey Ted, I just realized that I’m helicoptering over the Internet 😂
@donnyjackson19089 ай бұрын
If you took the hose off before charging you lost the majority of your vacuum as it sucked in outside air removing the hose. I would recommend releasing the charge with the hose attached and under the vacuum so when you remove the hose it’s under positive pressure.

When cutting tubing, if you stop tightening the cutter before you cut all the way through, you can snap the tube apart with your fingers. Leaves a much smaller inside burr. Of course it takes a little practice to know "when".

Thanks for an awesome video Ted! Old school myself, but early on in my career learned the hard way to always ream the pipe before you flare! Did a lot of refrigeration in my day so a lot of driers and TXV’s were flared. Wish that tool was available back in the day, but oh well the small amount of flares I do today, I am ok with my old Imperial kit which includes swedging as well which I use more these days. Thanks again!

If the lineset hole is not properly insulated,the return air thermistor will sense outdoor air!
@tallpaulsynd3 жыл бұрын
Hanging by the center hole to level it only works if that hole is the center of mass. So, if one side has more holes punched in it then it will not work. My first experience with these was in a hotel room in Korea. It was mounted on an inside wall, between the room and the bathroom. The hotel bathrooms in Korea have a trough next to the tub, about 2 inches wide and sloped down with a drain at the end so any water splashed out of the tub goes onto that trough. The tub was opposite the wall with the mini-split. The condensate drain came down the inside of the wall and terminated with an open pipe sticking out of the wall in front of the stool. Cold condensate water ran across the tile floor right in front of the stool to the little trough next to the tub. I was not impressed.
