thanks for this wonderful video, me and my friend just finished hardwiring my vantrue n4 pro into my car today, and with your video to guide us it was a breeze. decided to go with the radio and the cigarette lighter fuses for constant and ignition power. thankfully for us the 10mm bolt was right next to the fuse box, and we just had to remove the side panel to access it. really fantastic guide, earned a sub from me 🙏🏾

Very helpful. I used it this weekend to install 3 cameras. A little more info regarding which circuits are better than others would be helpful. One of my vehicles was a hybrid and so all the incab circuits are always hot. I had to run a line into the vehicle from the fuse box under the hood. The first car (2019 VW Beetle) was a breeze. Hybrid was a 2013 Chevy Tahoe... challenging. The final car was a 2012 Range Rover HSE Lux which created a few challenges because the dashboard is more sealed to fight road noise and the panel was behind the passenger side glove box. Overall, couldn't have done it without your video. Thanks!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's no negative on the fuse side. Either side is positive. One side is where the power is and the other side is where power is going to. The fuse is just there to bridge the connection and off course protect the circuit/wire. The negative as it's referenced is actually the ground wire. I could be wrong. I don't do DC only AC but I'm almost sure it's only a live or positive going through fuses in a car. Regardless, very good video and very helpful. Keep it up.

the fuse acts as a bridge for 12v or 24v. it's definitely not ground! If ground and power are connected, the fuse will hopefully blow!

I had to more than double the length of the wires on both fuse tap adapters so that I could have easy access to the inline glass 2 amp fast blow fuse on the yellow "BATT" wire & have an accessible place to put the black box. I then coiled excess cable length from the black box to the dashcam. FWIW, it's a good idea to FIRST securely connect the Black "ground" B4 connecting the red & yellow wires to power. Yes, I used insulated heat shrink Butt & Bullet wire connectors. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada

The added FTA wire length makes it easily possible to place the black box out of the way of anything & the heat shrink Bullet connectors in place of Butt connectors makes it easy peasy to disconnect the dashcam "stuff" & leave the FTA in place for something else if a person changes their mind. I am trying to install this into my 2018 Mazda 3, and I've found this video helpful, but I have a question. For the wire that goes to the ACC fuse port, is it okay to put that into a port that is powered all the time like the BATT wire? All of my ACC-only ports are inaccessible because I cannot fit the kit plug into those ports due to the arrangement of the fuse panel. The 90-degree wire from the plug is hindered by the bulkhead. For some reason, Mazda put the fuses that have power all the time so that the power is on the left side and the ACC fuse ports have the power on the right side, but those fuses are right up against the bulkhead, so the wire has no room and I can't put the plug in. Thank you!

I had a similar issue like yours before. What I did is I installed the "ACC" fuse tap to the fuse box in the engine. I just added wire to reach the engine fuse box.

After watching your video i feel like i can install my dash cam i do have a question the blackvue power magic pro kit came with two micro2 two 10A fuses the fuses i want to pull for the taps are 15A and 20A will this still work and wont interfere? or should i be buy a 25A to go with the 20A and 20A for the 15A?

Check the spare fuses if you are able to use the fuse slot. You can also use any heated seats or heated steering wheel, accessory power outlets, and power seats.

Depends. If you have have time lapse parking mode or motion detection then yes it will. If you have G sensor parking mode then it wont. G Sensor parking mode or will only turn if there is movement.

this is the best video on wiring up the Vantrue dash cam. However it isn't so clear when one wants to only run the camera while the ignition is on (ie no parking mode). So We need to only attach one wire to a non 'hot' fuze (such as window controls, wipers etc. that go cold once ignition is off-off) Is it the battery+ (black) or the ACC (yellow) - in the comments below you were ok with ACC/yellow+Ground --> should it not be Battery/Red + Ground to a non hot accessory fuze? Would save a lot of questions - besides that well done Vanture has the worst manual

ok - in the interest of time, I got this off Reddit - an answer from Vantrue support. Can you please confirm this? Sounds like connect Red/Battery to ACC fuse (ie cold when engine turned off), Black to ground & tape up the yellow/ACC wire. I have to say I have another Dashcam, Nextbase 622. Just one wire+ ground --> and the camera will record on its own power for 15-20 minutes...long enough for a most errands in unattended parking lots. "Vantrue-Echo • 1y ago If you used the hardwire kit with ACC function and if you want to use the parking mode, please connect the red wire to the fuse port which provide constant power and connect the yellow wire to the ACC fuse port(which only has power after ignition turns on). If you don't want to use the parking mode but just want the cam turn on and off with car turns on and off, then please connect the red wire to the fuse port which only has power when ignition turn on. As to the parking mode function, there are different options. For example, if you set at motion detection, the cam will stay on while park the car, but it will only record when the cam detect movement. When there is no movement, the cam will in sleeping status. If you set at collision detection, then the cam will turn off when you turn off the car, and when it detect vibration while park, it will turn on to record video automatically. If you set at low bitrates recording mode, the cam will record continuously while park the car, but the resolution will switch to 720P@15 FPS. Thanks."

You don't have to connect the ACC wire. You just will not be able to take full advantage of parking monitoring. Also I recommend buying the maximum SD card for the dash cam because your dash cam will be recording 24 hours a day.

I have a question and its confusing. So i have a Mini Low profile fuse. And the Kit comes with a Lowprofile fuse that has a 5amp fuse on it already. Do i have to take that off and place the Fuse from car and transfer? Or place it beside the one thats on the Kit Fuse.

If one has dashcam mainly to record accidents or other activates while the car is moving, then running power to the dashcam when the car is off is not needed. Power to the dashcam when the car is off is only useful if wanting to record when your car is parked with the engine off, in case of an attempted vehicle theft or contents theft, etc. But most dashcams don't work so well recording attempted thefts anyway, so I personally don't think it is very useful for that. I admit that I park my car in a garage every night, so I am not so worried about theft. But I were worried about theft when parking my car outside my home, I would install outdoor home video cameras that can be more easily powered all the time and provide much better surveillance. The risk of running the car battery down is not worth it to me to power my dashcam all the time. I don't even want my battery run down to 12V on a regular basis (normal is about 12.6V) because that can reduce the life of the battery.

The constant fuse is to supply power to your dash cam 24/7. The ACC which is the switch fuse turns off and on the parking mode. During parking mode the G Sensor will turn on the dash cam during parking mode to record the amonted time the dash cam will record. If your car is wired with a constant fuse and you have an incident while parked and don't notice it till 6 to 8 hours later then the incident might be erased with loop recording.

The ACC (ignition-switched) detection feature will allow the dash cam to switch to parking mode automatically if the vehicle's engine turns off and switch back to normal recording after the vehicle's engine turns on. The ACC wire is necessary if you will be utilizing the Parking Mode.

What's really weird is my sunroof fuse slot is constant power, and i verified its the sunroof fuse, yet the sunroof does not work till you turn the ignition on! Also I learned you can not check power side with the fuse in. Luckily I found both an empty constant and empty acc to tie into but the sunroof is still perplexing me!

Yes, Carlos u are wrong because fuse have negative and positive, u have to install it correct orientation for a fuse tap anyway. It's not negative like a ground, the ground goes to bolt which ground it. If u use a volt meter one side light up which has power and one side doesn't.

Yes, that means when your car is off, your dash cam will be turned off. I never tried it like that, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Using a dashcam without parking mode works fine, and the only way I would do it. If I needed video surveillance of may parked car, I would install outdoor video surveillance cameras outside my home. But I park my car in my attached garage 99.9% of the time, so I only need the dashcam to record events when the car is on (like accidents).

Thank you - It make no diffrence which side is [+] it is a fuse and that means it's hard short - as a matter of fact if you place it the opisit way it will let know when the fuse is blown.

You do need both activate parking mode. Trying using a fuse from the engine fuse box.

It supposedly has a motion detection system that uses low power, and then if motion is detected then it turns the camera on. But most reviews of parking mode on most dashcams say it doesn't work all that well. I only use my dashcam when the car is on to record accidents, etc. Home video surveillance cameras would be better if you park your car outside, but in view of an outdoor camera or video doorbell.

@Mark-rw3kw the vantrue camera sucks. Brand new card battery, parking mode barely 2 hours. Does not alert you of any incidents in parking mode. You need to walk your car to see if anything happened then look for the video. I wish I returned it and bought something else

If you parking mode is only 2 hours. I would check your wiring. The dash cam never stated it alerts you. Almost all dash cam don't do that.

@@MrMaxRebos I didn't buy my Vantrue E1 for monitoring of my car when parked, only to record accidents, etc. If someone breaks into or steals my car, it is covered by insurance. If I am blamed for an accident that was not my fault, that is far more serious and costly, and is the only reason I have a dashcam. From what I understand reading reviews, parking modes on most brands do not work very well, and the only way I would use one is if I had an auxiliary battery pack (these are available specially for this purpose). I park my car in a garage overnight, but if I didn't then I would try and install some other kind of video surveillance system (not inside the car).
