Tip: Mine is wired with the cigarette lighter.. Since I don't smoke and don't let anyone to smoke in my car I unplugged the lighter and I use the negative of that circuit to complete the circuit for the relay.. If the lighter is not in place the car won't start.. 🤓🤓🤓 By the way I have 2 relays ones cut the fuel pump and the other one cut the ignition to the starter.. So it won't even crank if they figure that there is a wire there.. I still have another one going to the fuel pump so even if they crank it they won't go to far.. 😅

This is awesome, wasn't sure where you were going with the fuse initially but it makes perfect sense. Intercepting wires at the ignition would be super obvious to an experienced car thief, taking them from fuses is so unique.
@alephnot0008 жыл бұрын
this is like Level 1 beginner install. Level 2 would be removing the fuse panel and installing the switch on the circuit without any evidence that there is a switch installed. Level 3 would be to use a cellular or RF keyfob receiver instead of a radioshack switch.

how convenient I see the wires on the fuel pump fuse and I can just yank it out by the wires nice and easy! Hell I don't even need a fuse I"ll just cut the the wires short splice em together and plug it back in! I like the stealthy approach ideas but Thanks for trying to help the community!

As a mechanic the first place you look if the car doesn't start is the fuse box. You'll see the fuse that was tapped into. All you'd have to do is put a bit of wire in there. The fuse you used isn't for the fuel pump. It was for the fuel injector and fuel pump relays.

So no more "gone in 60 seconds". I'd rather walk out to the parking lot and see someone messing with my fuse box then driving away in my car. See my point? This is a quick and cheap kill switch. I also have my wires hidden and fuse box locked just to make it more annoying for a thief. I also have a throttle control and set it to max slowness when I park it so if they do manage to take it, it won't be fun.

Dont use the fuel pump fuse! Imagine that fuse falling out or barely connected plus It's hokey as hell! Use the clutch or brake switch ( yes the one where you have to hold the clutch or brake in order to start it. Way easier as all you do is relocate it from the pedal to another location. It's free and it works. Twice now I had someone punch the ignition and obviously someone tried to use the OBD port as the rubber boot was missing. No luck for the scumbags

1. Make sure your wire can handle more than the fuse is rated for. 2. Fuse box is not a good place to run your wires from. In this case, the best solution would be to run it from the fuel pump. 3. Hide the switch somewhere in passenger side. The first place someone would look for a killswitch is under a seat. I would hide it in plain sight, disguised as fog light or window heating switch for example. 4. Use shrink tubes or terminal connectors in all car related electronic works. Vibrations will losen up electrical tape (eventually).

Currently, I run a self made (DIY) HHO Generator fashioned inside a comparable sized milk crate in my truck bed (outside in case of 'H-Bomb' *BOOM* I got a safe place for all the glass from the pickle jar to go but my redundant safeguard is in the thermodynamics of the stator vacuum pressure.) with its tube going under my cab to the engine compartment, then to a smaller pickle jar that fits perfect in the area in front of the brake booster on the 'cool side of the engine' with one hose in from the crate in my truck bed and one hose out to my air intake right before my throttle body.. Your video gives me the idea of how to make an on/off (I/O) switch for my fuel pump. Just what I need to confirm my truck can run without gasoline except for when starting up. I mean, to shut off the fuel pump and run my engine completely off of Hydrogen. I'm harnessing the forces of nature here bro and you'll be the first one to know if it works after I shut off the fuel pump with your switch. Thanks amigo and nice looking girlfriend you got helping you out. Respect. Ollie Oak I can definitly see your point of view. Although it may not take a genius to figure out how to bypass the switch, it does take work and time (which is critical when stealing a car). This in adition to turning your wheels in a direction that makes it difficult to tow, makes the car less desirable to the thief. As I said in the video, if your car is targeted and sombody really wants it, then consider it gone. Quite frankly, if its stock or a common after market alarm, there will always be a way to steal it. Your also correct about it being a fuse to relays. Thanks for your input! Feel free to follow up! I love to hear opinions. Especially from people who have experience in this.

Just wire to your fog light switch or radio knob, (*never to anything hanging out or to your fuse box or panel, from the switch itself*) or a fuel pump shut off somewhere outside, under the wheel well...thieves dont sit there trying all the differing switches or knobs...but they will drag the hand in obvious kill switch locations (humans are lazy, stereo installers being easily predictable, because of cost, repetition, etc locations are routine) I have mine paired to my fog lights, (*not your headlights*) and Ive had 4 88-93 Fox 5.0 Ponies over the last 20yrs in a high car theft location and literally have video up, of me laughing at people trying to steal one, the only way to get it is to have it towed. Install two 1" +/- pieces of heat shrink tubing before soldering over the wires and allow enough clearance for soldering the joints after soldering slide heat shrink tubing over soldered areas and use a hair dryer or other heat source to shrink the insulating tubing over the entire connections. Next, never try to hold anything with your fingers when attempting to drill holes as you can seriously injure yourself when the drill bit grabs and turns the material by then it is to late to release the part. OUCH! Other than lack of experience in these areas a great well thought out video. Thanks

Don’t get me wrong, it was a good tutorial, I really enjoyed it. I would just not post it for everyone to see where I installed a kill switch. The goal to stall thief for as long as possible, so they give up and move on to the next car without one, because like you said, no car is impossible to steal. However, you can make it a pain for them to do so. I however have the best kill switch on my cars, it’s called a 45 ACP deterrent switch. Man, It works miracles.

The fuel pump fuse is a popular place to run a Kill-switch system. A good Car Thief knows this as well. If he is targeting your model car, along with a slim-jim he is gonna have a fuse or 2 with him. He breaks in, car cranks but wont start, he opens the fuse-box, sees the installed wire, pulls it out, pops in a fuse of his own, takes off with your car. Maybe a break locking device would be a safer bet??

I think that wire is a little bit to thin to connect with 15 amp current potentially!I would take a bigger lead.. A to thin lead can potentially get to hot while driving a long time in the summer and melt the isolation. There a lot of cars that were burned because off such sketchy work in the electrics. You cant compare it with a speaker wire,because through a speaker wire goes AC!And only a bit of bass which has the most power.But on this goes a DC current and that goes continue in time,compared with the speaker wire.Look at the thickness of the wire inside the fuse!And thats only a very short wire and you are gonna make a longer wire and so with more resistance.And more resistance means more heat..

The insulation type and the insulation rating is "what's wrong with speaker wire." Speaker wire is not meant to carry any significant current. I bet that wire is 18 or 20 gauge and normally only carries less than 1 amp when used to drive speakers. I bet the temperature rating is something like 40 deg. C. The insulation temperature rating of speaker wire is very low AND it has almost no abrasion resistance. You don't want the car to burn to the ground because you used unsuitable wire. Tell your viewers what the correct type of wire to use is and also inform them why using speaker wire is completely unsuitable for this application.

So what type of wire would be best for this kind of modification?

Power wire...

Look up the Amp rating of the fuse. Then go to Amazon and search for wire that is the proper gauge for that amperage.

I think I would just connect the fuse across the car battery to "Blow" the fuse (burn it out) instead of drilling the flimsy plastic, then just solder the switch wires to each end of the open fuse. Using the FP fuse is a great idea.
