Yea thank you. Your post of all that I searched for provided great info. I’m currently trying to replace my glc300 2020 LED star emblem. First step is to gently slide and pry the original emblem out. Wish me luck!

Mercedes told me our GLE could have the illuminated badge installed so I ordered. However I noticed today there’s a harness plugged into or near the back of the current badge. Did yours have that also. No video’s actually show the back of the oem badge. Tia

No errors, but not compatible with the systems that have a radar unit behind the star.

Hi did your GLE have a radar sensor behind the factory star? My 2021 GLE 350 has the radar sensor behind the factory star. I ordered the parts as described but the illuminated star would not fit with the radar sensor installed. Thx

Are you referring to distronic. Can you please share the link to the star you bought ? I have the radar unit too. You might need a flat star with the star embedded inside the circle for your model. It needs to be removed from inside the grill.

No, radar is incompatible with the illuminated star.

Exactly, if your GLE is equipped with distronic, lane keeping, etc., the illuminated star isn't compatible with your GLE. It's a pity that the illuminated star is only suitable for entry level GLEs.

Had planned to do this to my 2021 GLS. MB mechanic said it was not possible due to the vehicle’s augmented reality option. So be it. Thanks Ben

The only thing that prevents the illuminated star from being installed is if your MB comes equipped with Driver’s Assistance

@@iRenzo Just checking here...........my 2020 GLS450 has the two following options: #243 Active Lane Keeping Assist, and #U19 MBUX Augmented Video For Navigation. Will either of those not work if I install an aftermarket illuminated star? Thank you!

@@rwb728 As far as I am aware, it becomes unavailable if you have the Driver's Assist package... Or Distronic. I would assume not, because of the active sensors for options 243 and the camera's for U19. I could be wrong and it might need some altering with the wires.

I did this on my 2016 GLE350 but after trying 4 headlight fuse box locations the light stays on even when the headlights are not on. I want it to only come on when the headlights are on? Any suggestions?

You’d probably have to wire it to the positive fuse cable from the headlights.

Be aware. The kit has a connector on it. The fuse tap is not necessary. A white connector under the fuse panel comes out. A single wire on one side and two wires on the other. Plug the harness terminal into the connector in between the two wires and install the fuse. Note: this terminal is active with the engine running. It does Not come on with the park lights only.

Can you be more specific about this. What kit are you speaking of? I bought the OEM harness A166-820-60-00 and it came with a fuse holder, fuse and harness with ground lug and a crimped on female for the fuse on the hot wire. This white connector you speak of, to get to it do I need to open the fuse box and use the two clips to lift up the fuse panel as shown in the video? Is “plugging the harness terminal into the connector between the two wires” something this was meant for or is it a “bush-fix”?
