How-to install a Millhouse River Studios Turntable

Having now installed 3 of these things I figured it was high time I make a video on it. The process is simple and take less time than watching this video to install one. Adjusting it does take a bit longer however.

the turntable or a layout?

You have done it again a fantastic video how to video I look forward to seeing your next one I like at the end how you said you can get your wife husband or a friend or something like that to give you a hand but you can also put all your elevator bolts through the top and then a piece of board screw down to help hold them in place while you're underneath the layout thanks for sharing with us

The help is to assist with pushing the turntable up, not holding the bolts down/in. It weighs a lot.

I'm sorry that I did not include instructions on how to program the table in this video. At the time I didn't know how to do it. When I get back to the layout (after COVID) I will make a video on programing it thats easy to follow and short.

Could you tell me the length of the Elevator bolts that you used? I am also going into a 1/2 inch table top so I think that 1 3/4 inch would work for me. Thanks

It's safer to get longer ones and not need the length than to purchase something too short. When you mark and drill the holes in the top, you turned the turntable over and marked the holes, but.........when you install the turntable from underneath the table, the holes you are using are opposite from where you drilled them, 180 degrees different. Are the tabs so precisely placed that you can do that and have them line up when you use different holes from underneath the table?

In this case, yes the holes are that precisely lined up. It’s really a remarkable product. The quality is awesome. Ohh btw, the company will weld those mounting tabs on at custom heights upon request, you just have to email them with your specs. I’ll be doing this on the next one to eliminate the 1/2 spacers I needed on this particular install.

@@MRBenchwork Actually, I spoke with Alan yesterday and he did not offer to weld tabs to custom heights. Maybe he will do for you. He indicated that using the 2 nut system, you can easily adjust height of the table. Also, he indicated that the instruction DO recommend the holes be measure FIRST by taking the unit underneath the table. It is precise but he has had people contact him that were not as lucky as yourself with the hole position marked from above by turning TT over.

@@rangermiller9969 Something must have changed then because he did offer that previously. I'm guessing that he, like everyone else is so busy that customization is not practical for the time being. As for holding the 50 pound turntable up under the table to mark holes, yeah, I won't be doing that. It's not safe. At minimum I'd get one hole drilled so I have something to help support the darn thing while marking/ drilling the other holes. Besides I've installed 3 of these now so I know what works for me. Your process could be different and that's ok.
