Peter ,it always amazes me to watch you go from a plane loop to somewhat workable to a great layout. Your brain works on a higher level then mine🥴

I just take each plan one step at a time, first determining what basic footprints will fit in the space available, then determining which one best fits the client's ideals, then gradually filling in the details.

Peter, I knew when I saw the title to your video I would see some of the comments that I am seeing. However, despite those comments, you and I both know the possibilities with 3-rail O Scale. This design was a good use of space which you are a master at creating. Thanks for sharing.

The sound is much better; very good actually. 😊 Always enjoy your videos. Congrats on the new workshop, and equipment. Greetings from Fort Wayne, IN.

These are my favorite videos of yours, so I'm glad you're back to doing these track plan videos. More, please. :)

I always have done as many layout design videos as I've had suitable candidates for. I only do about one layout design per month and this year I've had a majority of my clients only hire me for the initial rough design, preferring to finish it themselves.

Nice design, as always! It always seems strange to me that the American O-gauge scene seems to be so focused on three-rail. In the UK, people use the increased size of O-gauge over OO/HO to make incredibly detailed and accurate models, but three-rail just looks like a toy.
@TheSonofruss Жыл бұрын
As an American I agree with the toy aspect of 3 rail it is pretty much an industry standard as the manufacturers all use it over here.
@Scobyland Жыл бұрын
Quite true. Two rail is prototypical, not three.
@beeble2003 Жыл бұрын
@@Scobyland No, two-rail is prototypical.
@Scobyland Жыл бұрын
@@beeble2003 Right. I meant “two” rail. Thank you.

@@Scobyland OK. :D I was worried you'd misunderstood what "prototypical" means!

I would not like to have half the junction (connection from the station to the mainline) hidden in a tunnel. 3 switches have to be ride so a derailment is possible. Also would add a spur next to the entrance track of the station so a loco does not block the main track when waiting on a train to arrive to take it back out. To free up the loco when the train has arrived, you always have to block the entrance track when pulling the cars out.

There are many improvements I would like to have made, but track geometry is severely restricted when I can only use one size of turnout.

I'm sure there must be a reason, but why on god's grey earth, with that much room in an attic, would you want 0 gage, let alone 3 rail? To each his own I suppose. However, given the scale and limitations, you always deliver the best plan for any given situation.
@beeble2003 Жыл бұрын
Well, you can't exactly do O-gauge in _less_ space!
@avlisk Жыл бұрын
Model railroading is a prime example of "to each his own". One thing I've learned over the decades about railway modeling is that "everyone else does it wrong and I am the only one who does it right".
