Just got a mini 30 tried to shoot some steel ammo not one fired out of a box watched your video bought a new spring and shim kit installed it today went to the range shot 10 boxes not 1 misfire excellent thank you very much

Thanks for posting this. I don't have a vice with drill press like the OP but it did get me to use a table vice and a pair of vice grips opened just enough to let the strut pass through and compress the spring. It doesn't need a lot of travel to release the tension.

The drill press is a very neat trick, would work for Ruger Vaqueros and Blackhawks too. I have used a fork to compress the RV/RB, would never work for the Mini. I ended up using a vice per Ruger to compress mine as I have no drill press.
