I will definitely learn from it and follow your example nextime.Many thanks 😊

Look Listen and FEEL the tool and the materials. Get to know the sound of a tool when it is used correctly. I can tell from the next room if a guy is using his tools correctly - a saw sings, a paintbrush is slapped against the side of the tin to fully load the brush inside the bristles, a hammer also sings when used well as does screwing up screws with a screw gun or trowelling up plaster and many more. So learn to listen to tools and if it sound wrong - they aren't being used correctly.

If you buy a silicon tool and use it wetted with washing up liquid and water you cannot fail to do neat silicon. It really is wrong to try to be neat on application of silicon - rather what you should concentrate on is filling all the gaps fully with silicon or you will be leaving voids underneath neat looking silicon runs - directly out of the gun. If you think this is ok and you prefer it - remember you will be leaving voids underneath the neat looking silicon. So stop trying to do neat silicon directly upon application and concentrate on filling the tile gaps fully before tooling up to a professional finish. Now you too are a professional silicon specialist!!

Shukran - many thanks Salwan. If you want to know how a bathroom should be tiled or to tile it yourself then watch the whole video including the classroom setting out session. The 'setting out' section will tell you what to think of in advance of laying your first tile to start. Once you make the considerations talked about - you will start in the right place - which is vitally important. The 1/4 progressing tile bond is also great for hiding cuts in a small room and folding tiles around corners, which always looks best. Our most watched video is the How to professional Silicon which deliberately is shown messy - so that anyone will realise they can do perfect silicon. Please give us a like and share with your friends and subscribe. I made these videos as an advert for my inventions - The Studhawk Saw Guide Set which is not only for diy'ers but is a new accurate cutting instrument that is amazingly accurate. I also use it to make the shoulders for the half housing on the door frame you watched. If you want to cut skirting boards mitres - then clamp a 2 x 2 block onto the back of the skirting to create a running rail for the Studhawk to cut those deep mitres ( a pencil line will help to saw to ) It is my belief that anyone can learn to do this with the right know how. Many thanks Michael Orwin - Inventor and the guy in the videos!

He makes it look simple. Make no mistake most people will not get this done they will completely bollock it up. People who do this as a profession have a feel for it. You not going to get it done so easily. He should mention get a very good chisel, because a cheap chisel will never get a good job done.
@Studhawk Жыл бұрын
No I disagree - anyone can do perfect silicon if they follow the video - the washing-up liquid mix and the silicon tool do the rest. All you have to do is make sure the silicon tool is wetted in water/wash-up liquid and you are as good as any professional. Cutting the nozzle of the tube to the right size for your joint is all you need to do - but remember to overfill the joint and cut it back to an 8mm profile with the silicon tool. To do that use the corner of the silicon tool that is about 8mm round. Any finer and it doesn't last years.

two screws hold it for scribing round it.
@Studhawk2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like an Excellent tip that I have never tried before in 40 years of doing this! If your screws drift slightly or the plate isnt held square the lock mortice can end up being marked out and twisted in the hole. I would say if one is very careful with pinpoint accuracy in using 2 screws and you use a Reiser or Cutter's screw it could well be a very good tip to speed up marking out - WELL SAID MATE I am going to try this - thanks for commenting.

How did you reverse the latch?
@Studhawk2 жыл бұрын
When you open the lock do it gently to ensure the spring doesn't flip out. On noticing how the spring keeps the latch in place - what you need to do is remove it then put the pieces back in the right order after reversing the latch (flip it over) then set the spring against the spring retaining lug. And then gently replace the case and fix the screw. Do it gently because the spring wants to eject the bits under tension. Appy a little logic and you will work it out. Make sure you remove the case plate gently in a horizontal position so it does not explode the pieces outwards when you open the lock or latch case.

Ca you cut the main lock hole with a router?
@Studhawk4 жыл бұрын
Yes but controlling the router is difficult on the edge of the door and carpenters that do use a router use a hinge jig to clamp to the door. Listen to the chisel when you strike it and the same sound for each tap of the hammer cuts to the same depth!! So listen to the chisel and hammer. Only when you can cut a hinge with a chisel should you progress to a router.

When I do my wooden work then my cutting is not well😞😞😞
@Studhawk4 жыл бұрын
Cut slower with the saw and get a medium or fine tooth saw for a neater cut. Your Studhawk saw guides will give you perfect cuts every time - just don't force the saw - stroke the cut with just the weight of the saw! To do this one has to hold a bit of the weight of the saw off the work. Also start on a pull stroke at a 45 degree downhill angle and let gravity help the cut and cut through the thin side of the wood and don't try to cut it on it's thick edge - it takes much more effort if you do!
