This one of the best installation videos. Most don't explain that you have to use bead buddies or several tire spoons to keep the tire bead under the rim (in the valley of the rim) until you finish getting the other side of the tire under the rim. Otherwise, at least on a new rear tire and new bib, you will not be able get the final part of the tire inserted under the rim.

Brilliant video! For me, using the c-clamp for dealing with the rim lock is genius - thank you!

Agree with other comments, brilliant. Should be the gold standard for how-to vids. Thank you.

Thank you, did a full change rear 18 inch three leaver's, g clamp in 40 minutes due to cleaning and lubing went on easy as. The curved leaver is a God send. Thanks.

Jealous. That is one loose tire/mousse/rim combo. Be nice to see one of these vids on a more challenging set up to see how that's done without a mousse changer. I'm imagining the technique may be quite a bit different. Like the clamp set up, and walk through for easier mounting situations. And thanks for leaving out the heavy metal. Thanks

Legend mate. Blokes at work always want to tell me I don't know what I'm doing. They act tough trying to force on, sometimes 3 of them all struggling doing completely wrong. When I try and say it shouldn't take that much force, they destroy rims, tyre beads and rimlocks. They put over rimlock last with 3rd of tyre still 15cm inside edge of rim. Joke. I'll send this video to them. Avagud1 mate

This is a GREAT video! The only thing I do differently. Because I’m not as clean or precise as you. Is I put a shop towel over the rotor so I don’t get compound on it or cut my hand on it. You obviously don’t need that. Might be a tip for a nubbie though.

Wait....how does 6-10 hours of ride time equate to three tires? Y’all think we all have tire sponsorship??
@jwiereng5 жыл бұрын
Guy says 6 to 10 hours. Later says basically 2-3 tires out of it. Seems hard to believe that both statements are true.

I think he means you have to reactivate it (blow air into it to fluff it up) every 6-10 hours. And you can do it 2-3 times before you need to apply new mousse. But dont take my word for it I only ride on YT!! 😂
@ThisTall9 ай бұрын
I’ve watched 10 of these tutorials now and not 1 looks 10% as hard as the 140-80/18 I’m trying right now. Pretty sure the mousse is for a 120-100.

Where can I buy one of these moose tube as I want my back tyre tubeless
@biker7426 жыл бұрын
what do you do with the hole in rim?let water and mud get in there?
@grahamsmith81226 жыл бұрын
It has the valve fitted but cut off from the tube. Thats what he used to inflate the tyre.
@fmtnic6 жыл бұрын
I use an old tube with the stem still on it as a rim strip. Just cut to the desired width. if you have a worn mousse just put the whole tube in to take up space. that can be difficult to install though but saves money.

At 6:15 you add air to seat the bead. Thought this was a Mousse that doesn't have air?
@1993-y7m6 жыл бұрын
Mark Pearce I’m confused
@mtbr3476 жыл бұрын
Doesn't hold the air. Just blowing air into the wheel to get the bead seated initially after tire install. The mousse will most likely seat the bead on it's own if enough lube is used. But, blowing a little air into the wheel gets it done quickly. The air then escapes out of the unused valve stem hole.
@DieselRamcharger6 жыл бұрын
there is no valve stem, you are just blowing air in the tire to push the tire bead up over the safety rib on the wheel.

Also search for genuine dirt rider mousse install. Great video and a slightly different style. Defiantly all about technique. kzbin.info/www/bejne/raW0c4CvdppqkKM There are two or 3 videos. He uses a tool for tire balls during the install its like 80 bucks, but I have followed his instructions and its easy (3 big spoons, a small spoon, two bead buddies and a standard tire stand). Its all about keeping the bead opposite and as much as you can into the dish and how you handle the bead lock. Did the last one without cussing at all. Buy a few extra tubes of lube when you get the bib for different tires. I take the tire off and flip it every so often to get even wear and relube the bead it lasts longer.

So with a mousse instead of a tube does it not have a valve stem?

Wrong, you cut the tube off the valve and fit the valve stem to fill the hole.
