I did it!!! Use plenty of moose lube!!! I don't have that type of tire changer, but you technique still works without the lever arm. I only fell down once, next time im wearing full mx gear! Thanks for the great video!!

Whoa whoa whoa whoa! You forgot 2 steps. The one step you forgot was cursing and swearing at the tire and the wheel for 15 to 20 minutes. The second step your forgot which is the final step. The "Gloating step" which is done after getting the new tire on by saying "Who's the boss now?!" while doing a body building pose. Keep up the great work Knight and RMATV!

What about the step where you air up the tube, realize you pinched it with the tire irons and then take the whole thing into the shop to have them put a tube in?

Thanks for the tips. You did an outstanding job explaining the whole process. I have the Tusk tire changer and it works well but I may update to a new tire changer after watching this.

Great video, a little different than most others i've seen. I agree taking care of the rim lock first makes the most sense but seems most others do the rim lock last. Nothing worse than mounting the whole tire only to figure out you messed up the rim lock and have to start over.

One of these tires changers are very tempting. Do they work with smaller wheels as well? (110s and 50s)?
@rmatvmc Жыл бұрын
This tire changer is designed to be used on tires from 12" to 21".
@dalepellerin Жыл бұрын
How is it that your tire rotates when you turn it without your spokes hitting the plastic base? My 21” front rim when placed on the stand with settings at 21 inch rests the spokes on the plastic bases. I’ve likely ruined my rim (spokes at least) by bending all of the spokes as I pressed down on the tire to remove as all the pressure resides on the spokes. Something tells me there’s someway to raise the rim slightly above the plastic base pieces but I see nothing in the instructions indicating that.

How about if the tire won’t bead. Even if you use popped on the deed. Then the air runs out and the tire comes off the bead. I have struggled with this a few times.

Tips for getting the bead to set on the rim? I blasted air into mine which got the bead to set, but then after one ride the bead came off of the rim

Maybe it’s me but every time I watch one of these videos it seems the tires are a lot more pliable than mine. Are you heating up the tire with a heat gun or something before installing? Is this something you recommend doing in addition to the tire lube? Thanks!
@rmatvmc3 ай бұрын
Heating up the tire is a good way to make it more pliable. Setting the tire in the sun is a good way to do that.
@justmyself10005 ай бұрын
This looks like the wheel is resting on the spokes? Won't it mess up the spokes when pressing down to break the bead and/or spooning off the tires? This is my only reservations on this. If it's not resting on the spokes....gonna buy this!
@rmatvmc5 ай бұрын
With the Neutron setup correctly you shouldn't have to worry about your spokes when pressing down on the tire.

Do you like this brand over the "RABACONDA DIRT BIKE TIRE CHANGER?"
@Danman1972 Жыл бұрын
I don't know, but shelled out like 2 months ago for a Rabaconda after years of doing bibs on a regular stand with no bead breaker. That hurt. I also bought tires and bibs with it. Nice and easy to change, but would have loved a cheaper option that is decent. This one looks a bit different than the Moose racing one. I do like the rabaconda. Only used once, but still getting the technique down. Made getting them off easier. Still from putting the bike on the stand to taking it off for both tires was roughly 30 minutes. I did let things head in the sun a bit before replacing. Not sure I'd recommend one of the other as I only have experience with one. Watched Highland cycles review over the moose and the rabaconda and decided to try the more expensive option. Done crying. I have a small garage and broke it down the other day to pack it up while I was cleaning. I think I will be letting my old tire changer go. locally for cheap or someone that just does tubes. Works for bibs, but technique is everything!

@@Danman1972thanks for the info. That’s helpful. I’ve been wanting a Rabaconda for awhile. I’m leaning towards the duck head model as I also have a Harley. And the dealer wants $300 for labor to change tires and is over an hour away…dirt bike store is only $90, but also, an hour away. Seems like the Rabaconda or the Neutron could pay for itself almost immediately.

@@helodriver20 Rabaconda makes a specific street bike tire machine and there is also the "no mar" that looks way slick for that and has the no mar has been around a while. Not sure how hard it is to a street tire on this one. I do have a street bike, but have not done a tire on it.
