HOW TO INSTALL A NAPOLEON ELECTRIC LINEAR FIREPLACE

This video shows you how to install a Napoleon NLF50H electric linear fireplace.
Tools required: Drill or impact driver, phillps screw driver, wire strippers, hook knife and a voltage indicator.
The wall color is Benjamin Moore American White 2112-70 and the fireplace (feature wall) is Benjamin Moore Kendall charcoal HC-166.

Nice video. Is there any way this could be installed where the fireplace is truly flush? I know your GF vetoed tile but would tile allow for a truly flush looking appearance? Thx.

If a tile backsplash was used this unit would truly flush. Without using a backsplash the only way you could make it flush is to build out the drywall surface with another layer of drywall.

I just cam across this video and this is something I am considering in my home. I noticed that there are no receptacles on the wall. How do you plug in the TV? If the plug is behind the wall then what happens if later you need to switch the TV out?

+ybsadbglad there is a receptacle located behind the tv. There is also a raceway behind the wall to the built-ins on the right. This makes it easy to fish wires from the TV to various devices on the shelf.

Just curious if you don’t want to use the heating can you still use the lighting without using the heat?

Yes you can use the lighting or faux fire without the heater turned out. All those options can be selected on the remote.

Great Video !! Looks great. what are the are dimensions of the shelving unit and the fireplace wall; what is the finishing you use; it doesn't look like drywall for the shelving walls...thx

Paul P thanks! The built in's were custom built by me. I used MDF for all the shielding units. Used a special MDF primer then painted them all white. I'm sorry I don't have any of the measurements for the built-ins. If you check out my Instagram @simpsonproiperties scroll to the bottom you will see some pictures of the built-ins. I also used LED tape lights in the buil-ins.

Hi, I've been trying to find this slime fireplace you installed so I too can fit into my 5" recessed wall but I keep getting the one with the mounting brackets at the back of the fire place, would you still happen to have the name and code for yours.....please...p.s love your videos

Thanks Susy. The brand and model of the fireplace is a Napoleon NLF50H. I bought it online from www.costco.ca. Unfortunately, I don't think they carry it anymore. I'm sure you can find one online through a Google search or on Amazon.

Did your unit come with the small mounting brackets or did you purchase at a local hardware store?

Where did you buy the yellow 20A cable from? and do you have video tutorial about installing a dedicated 20Amp line?

The yellow jacket just identifies the cable as 12/2. It's available at any electrical supplier or big box store. I'm a licensed electrician. I highly recommend you hire a electricain and pull any required permits when doing electrical work. I don't have a video showing the electrical scope of work.

how do you hard wire it? I'm planning on installing a recessed electric fireplace, what exactly or how do I hard wire it? there is an electrical outlet below where I want to install.

Hector if you need to run a separate feed to your fireplace I recommend you hire a licensed electrician. In order to hard wire it you have to run a separate feed from your panel to the fireplace using a 15 Amp circuit breaker 14/2 wire or a 20 Amp circuit breaker 12/2 wire (amperage depends on your fireplace requirements). If you just remove the receptacle (outlet) and hard wire your fireplace. There is a good chance that circuit will trip, if there are other devices plugged into that same circuit while the fireplace is on. If that receptacle is the only one on the circuit then you're in luck and can use it as your supply wire.
