Think this is a feasible idea, my strategy is to look for rentals where heating is free then get a hookup to 3 natural gas generators outside to power the mining farm. Then I can run the rig for 500 hours, shut it off, do an oil change, & turn everything back on. If I have a year lease then they have a binding agreement & have to front the gas cost while I make mad profit essentially turning the free electricity into cash. Every 2 years sell the generators & buy new ones to recover most the cost before they start breaking down & buy slightly used ones from Facebook marketplace again.

@jonathanw45917 жыл бұрын
While true, there is nothing wrong with realizing the code has a reason, and when new codes are issued, updates could be worthwhile. Either way, it's not as if I have to read the code to know that iron pipes will last longer outdoors if they are painted. It's your investment.
@jonathanw45917 жыл бұрын
I mean, in a general way and I'm not trying to start crap. Just saying if someone has unpainted pipes that were compliant when installed, and a later code edition says that new work must be painted, they are still compliant (which was your point as I understand it) but I would add that they might be well-advised to squirt some Rust-Oleum on there and stem the tide. I have it hot on my mind because I find it bothersome that in my neighborhood (after recent gas grid installation), I am the only owner/resident (that I know of) who did all my own piping work on my side of the meter; and also one of the a very small minority of systems that received paint on outdoor sections. All supposedly were permitted and passed inspection; the utility required evidence when they brought a meter to start my service.
@bobbybooyah7 жыл бұрын
The meter and the corresponding piping up to the outlet side of the meter are the responsibility of the gas company to paint and maintain. In Massachusetts, we are required by state law to replace meters every 7 years. when the meters are replaced, it is customary for the gas company to paint the meterset (weather permitting)

Because it's vented. Furnace has a flue pipe up to the roof, same with dryer usually vents out through the wall, and stoves have a range hood above them.

IMHO, looks like years of experience gone wrong. The meter of 210 CFH will do approximately 220500 BTU/h. Adding about 15% for the meters usual underestimated flow you get 240 CFH affording about 252000 BTU/h. So this old house is already over that limit at 275,000 BTU/h. Adding a Weber at around 60,000 you get 335,000. A max of 440,000 ?! Must be using propane in the calculation but even that is wrong as that would well over 525,000. On the plus side, dropping down to 1/2" for 18 feet off the 3/4" seems fine. Not sure why the simple mistake. ANY INSIGHT HERE.
