I installed a batch-feed evolution cover control plus for my parents, definitely big difference in materials and quality - way quieter and stainless steel cutters

Even know I've changed a dozen disposals I like to see how other dudes do it. Paul, thanks for teaching me a few tricks. Never thought of using the provided Allen wrench to spin on and off unit.

Thanks for showing how the snap ring holds in the flanges. I couldn't get it to work until I pulled the snap ring apart a little bit which allowed be to finally slip it in like in the vid. Just a little bit, if you do it too much it won't fit either.

bf and i were replacing the old disposal and looked for helpful videos. out of the bunch, this one by far was the most helpful one. we were able to remove the old disposal and replace it with new one thanks to this gentleman's help!

This was an AWESOME video. It showed every mistake that I made 6 years ago. It worked without any issues.

Very helpful video, thanks! I'm trying to install the same disposal, and the flange attached to the disposal part only rotates about 1/2 inch, and I don't see any way it will "climb" the ramp far enough to engage the detents. Any suggestions?

1 thing you should Add is hang dishwasher drain hose higher than input of disposal so you don’t get any waste water back in dishwasher. Thanks
@pauleohl11 ай бұрын
4:17 That is where mine leaked. The three ramps and the three tabs that climb the ramps have to be identical for the seal to be made at the top.

You always have Instresting episodes. In Australia houses, in sink disposal are not that common. They encourage everyone to recycle food scraps, back to the garden or compost bin. But they are popular in high rise apartments. Cheers 🇦🇺

I heard you say dispose all. That is what I believe GE called theirs. I don't know if they still name theirs that but it is an interesting fact.

Yeah I think I got that from my dad. I believe Waste King made Dispose-All's too ??

I didn't really catch the part about the open neutral of the original disposal. At 5:32 there is a wire nut on the neutral wires, was it loose?
@StudPack2 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't remember Rocky. I had 120V from hot to ground at the receptacle but not hot to neutral. I think the issue ended up being at the switch location.

I was hoping that you would have taken the drainpipe off the old unit to see if there was something else that may have caused it not to spin. I bet this unit could have been cleaned out to let it work again, I have done that for several people and saved them a few bucks.

Hmm I always make sure one part of the dishwater waste line is higher than the inlet on the disposal to prevent backflow into the dishwasher. Is it not popular in your area?

Get a hex bit socket on a 1/4" or 3/8" impact and try spinning the stuck disposal. I bet you will be able to free it.

I use a piece of wood like a plunger handle type of wood in the upper part of disposer to move the blend mechanism, always works.

Can you do a video on soldering copper pipe by any chance :D I have some copper pipe I need to solder on my current remodel. Been putting it off and just capped them with sharkbites so far but I'm not too big on the idea of burying sharkbites under the second floor subfloor and above the first floor ceiling. haha. Sounds like a callback waiting to happen.

Could remind people that most have a 5-7 year warranty, which you can tell if its under warranty by looking at the serial information and model, etc., then contact the manufacturer or look on line. I ended up with a free one after we had looked for the warranty and couldnt fit it. Really nice fix-it buddy reminded me that you dont buy a warranty on them -- comes from the manufacture. One call saved me $100!
@gregorybondi52204 жыл бұрын
Given that the date of manufacture on that unit was in late 2015 -- based on the serial number (sorry, I snagged it on the video), it was still under warranty, and could have been replaced for free! Dang!
@StudPack4 жыл бұрын
Yeah we thought of that Gregory but it didn't fail due to a manufacturer's defect. It was installed incorrectly. Really didn't want to go down that road:)

Totally suggest moving to clear silicone, works much cleaner and simpler, also bonds the 2 surfaces better. Once I switched, knew I was never going back.

Hi guys! I just replaced my disposal - the old one, which was the same model you installed here, was full of water inside the housing, including in the motor. How the heck does that happen? It was probably 10 years old, but I just can't imagine it corroding to the point that water is in the motor. Seems like a poor design. Have you seen that before? Thanks for the vids. You guys rock!
@mikewilley50162 жыл бұрын
Yeah John, sometimes the impeller part just corrodes and gets tiny cracks in it. Then the water just drips down into the motor and out the bottom. Mine old one was that way and I took it apart to see what it was.

That disposal blockage was probably causing back flowing down the dishwasher hose instead of the drain.👃👍

That would be a first for me seeing an ice maker line attached to a supply line under the sink. I would have assumed that was to the dishwasher.

Nope, the dishwasher would connect to the hot tap.
