I just finished a project similar to this for a friend. I lowered hot and cold and the drain 10". I used similar parts but with the trim plate I was able to recess everything into the wall with nothing sticking out, along with 90-degree hose fittings so the washer is 1 1/2" away from the wall. The dryer has a rectangular offset vent box which keeps it very close to the wall, along with the electric dryer recesed wall outlet, so that the cord connector is flush within the wall. Nothing sticks out from the wall, except the washer drain hose that goes into the wall. They have the same washer and dryer as the ones you have too. Great video.

I would be interested in a more in depth video on when a wet vent is admissible and when it isn't.

You are a great teacher, good at explaining things to us common folks who aren’t master plumbers like you. Much appreciated. Subscribed One question - how come you use those sanitary tees with the soft bend vs vent tees with hard 90?

The white tabs around the ox boxes sit 1/8" proud of the stud, making it seem impossible to install the drywall flat against the studs. Is that just how things are supposed to be?
@shenalally22147 ай бұрын
I think the drywall doesn't come flush to the box and then a plastic frame surrounds that gap

What kind of construction was that with sheet metal walls instead of drywall?

Mom’s washer box had it all in one box, that way if the valves or hose connections leaked, the drain line caught the water. Of course this was in the early 90’s. Hello from north east Montana. 10 miles from the Canadian border.

Quick question … if in situation where there is no vent system close by and you are “forced” to install a studor air admittance valve, would 6” rule above flood rim of a stand pipe have to be applied as well or valve could go lower? 👀 Great vid as per usual. Thanks in advance. 👊

A good idea is to have a drain "wash" a 90 degree as it goes up to a vent. In other words the waste will clean the line before it goes up and out to daylight. Sometimes you have a choice to do that and you are doing that in the vertical stack as it comes up from bottom plate.

How about a recommendation for a dual, quick action shutoff valve assembly for both the hot and cold water?

You are running a refrigeration system that uses a pump recirculation overfeed system. What should be turned off if all compressors go down?

After gluing mine, somehow, it ended up out of plumb between the trap and the box, so the the stand pipe is sticking past the front of the studs about 1/8", while the top is within the stud cavity fine. In this situation, would you cut out what was made and try again? or just fur out the wall by 1/8" for a few studs?
@BenjaminSahlstrom Жыл бұрын
Seems like once you put on the trim you probably won't notice the 1/8".

You primed and glued the DWV pipe to the Ox box right? I think that Ox box is made of PVC too? One tip I would suggest is use long sweep 90s wherever you can, especially in new construction! The higher the radius of fittings the better. For venting it doesn't matter, in fact they actually make super sharp 90 fittings for venting. You're getting all fancy with intro graphics. :-)

What if we don’t want our boxes not to be visible and hide it behind the machines? Is it against any regulation or wouldn’t work with washing machine ?

Can anyone tell me why anyone would install this type of box? With no way for water from a leaking faucet to go into the drain it sets you up for water damage on the wall. There are many brands of boxes that capture any leaks and safely drain it away until the leak is noticed and repaired.

It is a shame that Sioux Chief makes so many boxes that are lipstick. Focus should Include some type of designed in drip pan that directs water down waste hole instead of around front trim and down wall. This situation really stinks if it goes unnoticed and pops tiled floors - ask me how I know.

Was it a clogged drain or a leaky connection from the hose? Confused how the drain box caused a leak and not the supply box

Please don't bend the water lines. For 1. It doesn't take 5 extra minutes to put ells in for nice straight lines and eliminates the possibility of stress cracks where the pipes are bent 2. It's just unprofessional to not take pride in your work to the put and say I don't care how my pipes look a professional should always make it look professionally installed and make sure that every aspect of the job looks professional nice and neat. When you decide to bend pipe to save money or time then you are no different that a handyman and not a professional plumber

Depends on how much you bend. Isn't that the benefit of pex vs copper.
