I think that’s why Schlage assembled the entry side with that handle that he ended up swapping with the inside handle. He’s excused for wanting “palm up” functionality vs. Schlage design intent.

Thanks for the info. The instructions in the box do not explain how to switch the handles from upside down to right side up. It’s quite simple when you know how to do it.

They didn’t include instructions because they assembled the entry and inside plate with their intended handles, and didn’t think you needed to swap it like the guy in the video.

I have a decorative surround that the handle has to sit on top of on the inside of the door, making the door thicker. The provided screws did work, but now the handle pushes too far down when opening. Is there a fix or do I have to remove the decorative surround?

What about drilling pilot holes before jamming the screws?

I would drill pilot holes to avoid split the wood and guide the s tree. I would also use a. Enter punch. But workers out on the field do it quickly, and sloppily, often crooked and not centered.

what do you recommend as a sleeve for a hole that is too big? What is the ideal hole size (in mm) for the lever? the cover plate for the lever covers the hole but I want the handle sleeve to fit nicely and not be too loose

I've just installed the same handle and when I open the door, the barrel stays inside I have to push the handle up for it to release...

Yeah, there friction from metal on metal. The latch mechanism may not be aligning with the perpendicular handle rods from the 2 handle mechanisms. A quick try is dry lubricant, inside, where there’s metal on metal. Don’t use WD40; it’ll work for a while but evaporate, attract dirt and gum up the inside. Long term solution is to disassemble both handles and make sure the parts are inserted straight, correctly to avoid friction from metal on metal.

Wrong!!! The screws should be on the outside of the room. If the handle get stuck, mulfunctions or a kid lock themselves in…..it is easy to open it from the hall with a screwdriver!
