How To Install A Single Din Stereo In A Square Body Chevy 1973-1987 (91)

Today's helpful how to video will be showing you how to change the older shaft style radio to a new single DIN size stereo, AKA CD player in a 1973-1987 (91) Chevy/GMC truck, crew cab, blazer or suburban. AKA c10,k10,k29,c20,k30,c30 trucks,.
In this video I am useing the Metra 87-99-3052 installation kit for an easier and cleaner head unit install. This dash kit was around $15-$20 and is well worth the cost, this is the second squarbody that we have used this kit on.

I just bought a 1985 GMC C15 rebuilt from the ground up. My nephew had the truck and he cut the dash but he snapped the black dash instrument panel on the right lower edge from being thin and no support.. probably by tightening the lower right screw too tight. I'm putting in all new digital gauges plus a new black instrument panel. I hate cutting the new panel but since he already cut the steel in the dash behind it I figured I might as well look for something to support that lower right edge of the panel when I do this. It looks like the pieces you have in that kit would work. Thanks for the video from a fellow Kentuckian.

@@jaydingriffin6975 should come with new cd players, if not they sale them, look for cd player sleeve or cage, should show up, most people don't use them lol so ask a few friends they may have one laying around

What year of truck is this? I have a piece of dash I bought that they cut out of another truck so I can weld in and have a 2 knob stereo again. But the stamping changed somewhere down the line. I have a 87 and the piece I bought must be 73 up to who knows but the top metal above stereo Poe ing is stamped different. My 87 looks like your style of stamp.

I not wired one up yet again, but yellow wire goes to a key on hot, and red hot goes to a hot all time
