How To Install A SkyPoly Patio Cover (Easy Tutorial) | Cover Your Pergola Installation

Here's what the installation process looks like for SkyPoly pergola cover system. The pergola was located in Frisco, Texas and was roughly 16x16. To cover the pergola, we used a pair of 6x16 sheets, along with one 4x16 sheet. There were two connecting strips at the seams and polycarbonate I profile around the front edge.
The customer had kept their pergola naked and uncovered for two-three years before they finally called us. Having their patio area rained-out during the Spring and Fall months so many times was the finally straw for them!
While the customer wanted a roof for their patio, they also didn't want to completely block the light from coming through. No problem, that's what our SkyPoly is made to do! This pergola cover still lets shine in to keep the outdoor feel. Not only that, this SkyPoly system blocks 100 percent of UV rays. 100 percent! It also chills temperature between 10 and 15 degrees.

Thanks for the great video. I always enjoy watching them. I also have a flat top pergola with 10 x 14. I am also considering adding slop and clear cover, the same way it shows on this video. I noticed that you are using 2 x 8 as shim and slops down the 20 feet. I might want to use a 2 x 4, since my run is only 10 feet. Just wondering how you get the shims secured on the existing roof. Did you just screw down from top, or screw from the bottom up? or Just glue in ?

Hello! We install our covers right into the pergola itself. We install in specific spots to prevent leakage and connect properly.

What do you do to seal the top curved part of the base connector at the very ends where it meets the u- trim? There will be a gap…

Several people have asked and still no legitimate answer. How are the shims connected to the roof of the pergola?

Shims might not be needed if SkyLift Roof Risers are used but if not, long shims are used to create a slope away from the house and screwed into the top of each joist during cover install so nothing is seen from under the pergola.

I don’t think the roof risers work in my case because my pergola is attached to the side of my house into a ledger board

We use a variety of different length screws and attach everything at an angle so you cannot see them from under your pergola.
