What kind of workman puts his wallplugs into white mortar joints, rather than the brick?

A lazy one

A workman that knows whether the mortar is sufficiently strong to take a raw plug and fasten correctly. An unexperienced workman may well drill into the centre of the brick and not realise it has core holes and thus a weaker fastening.

I'm replacing my white stack with dark coloured...so this part seems simple enough...is there a vid to cover the mentioned "previously installed internal fittings leading to the new stack on the outside"

Is it necessary to leave expansion room at joints, or is it ok to just push the pipe all the way home as it looks like is done in this video? Obviously this would make a difference when measuring out pipe lengths.

From what I've read you push the joint home and then draw it back 10mm to allow for any movement etc. Hopefully whatever you were doing hasn't been on hold for 5 years waiting for this answer...
