Please be my neighbor. Your patience and attention to detail is remarkable. I can't drive a nail and I'm 74 years old. You got taught well. Good for you.

Good Job. I am looking at something like this a swivel hose reel. Great video! Thanks for making it.

I have to say this hose reel is still performing like the day I got it. Great product so far. Especially in today's times when you could get a product and it fails in a week. :-)

Thanks for the video. It was informative. I was wondering if you could update us as your viewers as to how the Navigator is holding up since it has been almost a year since your installation? Any leaks or rust or major issues? I like the navigator but was looking at the Eley Hose reel that has a 10 year warranty. Your thoughts appreciate!

Yes I can. I purposely left it outside and wrapped it in a plastic trash bag over winter. There is a pull up knob that you pull up to rotate the reel and that metal piece had some small surface rust but nothing to bother functionality at all. I put some 3&1 oil on it and it's fine. With that being said I will probably take it in next winter. Look at the first 25 seconds of my video about 'grassy weeds', you will see a close up of the reel - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iH-qp5RoorN2mas

just fyi - the reel is still holding up well. I'm going to put a follow-up vid out soon. 👍🏽

bro, question, why are you wearing a jacket and hat in June? I'm thinkin about getting this one but I've read reviews saying it rusts easily and they were having leak issues, have you come across this since you've had it?
@lawnjenkins2 жыл бұрын
🙂 nooo.,., June is when the video posted. Notice the grass not filled in in the background and very few leaves on the trees. Mine has not rusted. The fittings are brass and the wheel itself has this coating on it (coating could be a zinc base or some type of epoxy) but it's coated. Now if you scratch the coating, then moisture could get to the metal. Also.,., I'm in a very humid area and we have 3 months of snow each year and I still have no rust. I covered it with plastic one year though because I wasn't sure about leaving it out in the elements. other times it's been fine. You get a glimpse of it years later in these videos of mine at the very beginning 'Help Your Lawn Get Through The Summer Heat & Stress | My Recipe' And at 4:23 in this video 'How to Make Drip Irrigation Watering From a Garden Hose. Everything Clever is Simple"

Thanks for the video. Not a lot of info out there on these. Can you tell me the distance between the screw holes? I'll probably have to mount mine to the side of my house and I'd like to keep the holes in the mortar.
@lawnjenkins3 жыл бұрын
There are three holes. The bottom hole allows for a little adjustment from left to right . The holes are approx. 4 inches apart. I only used 2 of the 3 holes so you could do the same in order to go into mortar with your screw. Make sure you use an impact drill to drill the holes in mortar/brick. Also, drilling into the mortar is not secure enough to hold lag screws so try masonry anchors and screws for brick. Lastly, the length of the anchor should be at least 2” - 2 1/2” inches I would assume.

You forgot to show us how to install the 712 reel to the post; you just skipped over this important part. You (conveniently?) had your back to the camera when you did this. I heard some reviews which said that one of the three mounting screws is hard to get to. Can you explain? Thanks.
@lawnjenkins3 жыл бұрын
Ahh sorry 'bout that. I assure you it was not purposeful to have my back to the camera.,. if the camera was on the other side, the frame and wood itself would have blocked it completely. I may need some updated camera equipment to have the camera angle in a better view. The three screws to install it was quite easy though. The reason it was easy is the the bottom screw hole is curved liked a 'smile' so it allows you some play to get the holes aligned.

@@lawnjenkins Thanks. In your opinion, If I used 3 Tapcon cement screws, would they be strong enough to install this hose reel to a house cement foundation? Don't forget, these screws require a pilot hole to be drilled first.
@lawnjenkins3 жыл бұрын
@@lduranceau8046 Oh yeah - ABSOLUTELY. The strength you refer to also depends on the reel and the hose itself. The reel is about 12lbs. a 50ft, 75ft or 100ft vinyl / rubber hose adds more weight. for example - a 100ft hose with water in it is about 5 or 6 ounces a ft. so a full water hose is roughly 30 to 35lbs (depending on if it's vinyl or rubber of course). I would HIGHLY recommend one of those Zero G hoses which would cut the weight by roughly 2/3rds. This should help you rest easier about the strength of the tap screws ability to give you the support you need.

Will it mount to a 4x4 post?
@lawnjenkins3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can for sure.
@markhadley42063 жыл бұрын
Could this simply have been mounted directly to a 4x4 post instead of having to create those cross bars?
@lawnjenkins3 жыл бұрын
Technically you could but when you put 100 feet of hose on it, at the height that I have the post you need the stability. Many will put the post deeper in the ground for stability but who wants to bend over while reeling in 100 feet of hose? Lol
@markhadley42063 жыл бұрын
@@lawnjenkins haha good point! Thanks for the video and info!
@lawnjenkins3 жыл бұрын
But if you're in the market I would still get the zero G hose. it's a fraction of the total weight when water is in 100 ft of hose. Those Zero G's are awesome!

@@lawnjenkins I’m still trying to decide which reel to get. I like this one, but they jacked the price up to $150. Wasn’t really wanting to spend that much.
@lawnjenkins3 жыл бұрын
@@markhadley4206 yeah. I see the lowest price was about $115. Go to a site called camelcamelcamel.com. it's an Amazon price history site. I use it fairly often to know the historical price of certain things. But so far, this reel is awesome.
