I'm glad I found your video. I've been watching lots of butt weld floor pan videos and couldn't figure out why I couldn't lap weld as it seemed easier, and I'm not doing a stock looking restoration. I think I'll be doing mine this way!

Always enjoy spending a day in the shop with you. It is hard to tell while watching which took less time. The lap welding seems to have a bit more steps with the rust remover and trimming, forming, and drilling in plug welds. I think it is a matter of you do what you know, and you will be more comfortable with it, as well as the more you do it one way the faster you will be doing it that way. Structurally I feel the lap & plug weld is stronger. Cosmetically, the butt weld looks nicer. Since it is all going to be covered in sound proofing and carpet anyway, I'll go with the lap & plug weld method. Strength over beauty. It's really coming along well. Depending on the location, either por 15 patch, or just plain seam sealer There are many more episodes on this floor, including the sealing. Thanks for watching
