I've never done this before but it looks pretty easy let's see how we do it. All the videos from companies show pristine installations but we all know there are always problems so I'm showing the process in the real world

I fixed mine for zero cost. 1) I determined which solenoid valve was leaking. - 2) I removed the valve assembly. - 2) I removed the plastic debris filter from the inlet. I rotated the rubber solenoid washer with a pick tool. - 3) I hooked up hot water to the offending to the leaking valve. - 4) I hit it with pulses of hot water from the supply hose while... (4. - activating the solenoid switch (120V). 6) After 5 pulses the offending valve quit leaking. Summary... The little rubber washer (spring activated), gets clogged with a bit of debris.

Important note. Replace the old deteriorated rubber washers inside the hoses. Rub on it and black stuff will come off on your finger. It just takes a little of this to jam up the valve. This is probably what caused the problem to begin with so if you don’t replace the rubber washers you are wasting your time and money.

Unfortunately mr GE washer has a wire going through a hole in the plastic part of the water inlet valve. I took it apart up to the point where the wire goes through the hole. The parts list says it’s a thermistor. My only question was how to get that out. There also seemed to be a washer above it. Would a thermistor normally just pull out or us there something else I need to do?

Should slide out but that might be a different models and the one that I have so be careful make sure it’s unplugged

@@TomLeeman Thanks for the reply. I pulled up on the washer which actually was part of the thermistor and it did come right out. I ordered the water inlet valve so hopefully that will do the trick.

Are these adjustable for amount of hot and cold water going in?

There was no adjustments on the unite you can regulate the flow from your turn vales coming into the washer

@@TomLeeman Thanks. Since there are those two openings in the metal above the two cylinders I thought maybe they might be to use some tool to turn those odd looking, don't know what to call them, they're not screws, thingies in the top of the cylinders.

What was the purpose in using teflon tape? These are not NPT fittings. The sealing happens at the GHW so funny..
