Ditch Witch with tracks has excellent manueverability. Alternate hack for black pipe fittings: use a propane torch to heat/soften the black pipe.

I use 'push to connect' fittings and hose on my cars. They are barbed fittings like those that do not require clamps - that's how tight they go on. You did the hose in a pot of hot water and then jam it on the fitting. I would suggest trying that next time, probably make it a lot easier. No experience with that type of line, just a thought.

Thanks for the tip, Benjamin. Heat is definitely the way to go ... that'll be in an upcoming video.

A FAR better hack for installing poly pipe fittings is to use a hand torch on "LOW HEAT" around the poly for 5-10 seconds to make it pliable. Where gloves, heat, slip fitting into pipe and let it cool for a minute. Then use "ALL STAINLESS" clamps. Many stainless clamps are ONLY the band itself and the screw and strap are not as high quality. You may also want to look into something called a (CYCLE STOP VALVE). It can save you a pile of money in the long run as it will help your pump last far longer than it will without due to far less cycles.. Also helps to keep your pressure regulated and can lower the amp draw, further saving the pump and your wallet.

You could have made the connection of the poly pipe to any of the pipe connector fittings much easier for yourself, if you had simply dipped end of poly pipe in boiling hot water for 40 seconds each time to make it pliable. Also wondering why you buried the 1/2" shut off valve on the poly pipe just outside the garage? Should that not be left accessible?

Yeah, we started using a heat gun to soften the pipe after this. He wanted the shut-off outside the garage because he didn't feel he had a good place for it inside.

Does the pipes freeze in the winter ?
@FamilyFriendlyDIY4 ай бұрын
Nope. Where we live it doesn't stay cold long enough to freeze pipes more than a few inches below grade.
