Drill a separate hole at the top of the cabinet side and run the discharge line only through it. Now it has a built in air gap and you don’t have to jimmy rig the hose inside the cabinet and try to find somewhere to attach the hose to make the air gap. 👍

Also, in my experience, the electronics and buttons last longer when the buttons are past the counter top. So, when the steam and moisture come out, it gets the least amount of contact, over the years. Looks way better when flush, but you can push the buttons when the door is closed when it isn’t.

How do you use the dishwasher if the buttons are covered by the cabinet?

You open the door set the dishwasher options, press start, and then shut the door and the buttons are hidden, there’s a little blue light on the front that lets you know its washing.

Do these dishwashers really put out enough heat through the sides to cause a problem if it's mounted next to a fridge?

I think it’s more of a steam problem
