Wait ! If you swap the OEM O2 sensor with AEM O2 sensor on the exhaust manifold, how will the ECU get the oxygen info ? Ideally, dont you want both sensors to be installed ? One for the wideband and one for the ECU ? Please clarify.
@rikuvalkama8130Ай бұрын
I was just thinking about this myself. But im pretty sure you have to wire it differently if u want to link your ecu to it
@Limeayy6 жыл бұрын
I like the Tanabe Revel gauges because the AEM's have those digital numbers that are kinda ancient looking if you understand what i'm saying. The number have ticks for a #6, while on youtube the #6 looks like a 6 with all lines attached and smooth curves. Thats why i like tanabe's and i like the gauge spectrum color moves all the way to where it needs to be while AEM only has 1 dot marking where the Wideband AF is at or any other gauge they sell are typically the same.
@d4a6 жыл бұрын
I agree that the tanabe is definitely prettier looking being an OLED display. But I did quite a bit of research before deciding which gauge to go for and while AEM's may not be as pretty it is simply superior in terms of other, for me, more relevant stuff. The tanabe doesn't allow for data logging at the moment, and that's really important for many people, and will be important for me in the future. The AEM is also considerably cheaper. When it comes to responsiveness, I haven't measured myself, but I don't think that any gauge, save for the really high end ones, responds faster than the x-series. So yes, not as pretty as tanabe, but for me the gauge might as well be poop colored as long as it does what I want it :)
@Limeayy6 жыл бұрын
Lol, true. I actually did not know they can do data logging for these. Well, i don't think its much of a big difference unless you have an Piggyback or aftermarket ECU right?
@d4a6 жыл бұрын
Lime It's weird that they can't, but I read it in several places. Data logging is super nice, because than you can sit in an armchair and see exactly what the afr was at different engine speeds, temperatures, throttle openings etc. But you're right, without an aftermarket ecu you can't monitor all that.

I notice that the carbs are moving around since its only clamped on with rubber hose only. Might needed a bracket to hold it?
@d4a6 жыл бұрын
They are connected only via rubber hoses when on the motorcycle in their stock natural habitat ;), and they do move around a tiny bit, but will never fall off, so no need for a bracket really, unless you absolutely hate seeing them move a tiny bit :)
@kschong41636 жыл бұрын
I see. Might be my personal preference. I made a bracket for my friend to hold the bike carbs on a toyota 4k engine. Perhaps i believe it ensure the air flow straight in. Btw thanks for sharing . Keep up good work tho

may i ask do you still got the 12v outtake functioning and spliced a Y conection for ground and power, or did you disable the 12V outtake for the gauge? would charging a phone while having the gauge running for example disrupt it?

Where did you manage to get an analogic multimeter? Is it a grangfather's heritage ?

Question tho, why didn't you fish it throught the gas tank? If I'm not mistaken you should have enough room in there for it
@d4a3 жыл бұрын
Because without an actual car lift access to anything around the gas tank is horrible

Quick one, when installing this gauge, does it have to be in my downpipe somewhere close to engine? Or can I put it in my decat pipe, near where my secondary O2 sensor is?

Where does the Stock 02 sensor connect to? ECU RIGHT? If I removed it...won,t that cause an issue?

I have a 4A-GE engine that runs with MAP sensor and no Ox sensor nor EGR hole by stock, so I have 4-2-1 exhaust manifold by default, where do I need to connect the wideband sensor for best readings? Sometime ago someone I eard that I need to install it in about 30-60 inches or cm (I dont remember it) from all exhaust collectors merges in one but I'm not sure. Thanks in advance!
@d4a3 жыл бұрын
It needs to be somewhere where it csn read gasses from all four runners and it needs to be at an angle. The instructions that come with the wideband are pretty clear, you have them on the AEM site too.
@DiegoRodriguezAW114 жыл бұрын
Is this gauge and sensor still running good and reading good? Have you modified the suggested installation in this video at any time? Im already having troubles with it 🤦🏻♂️
@d4a4 жыл бұрын
Yup the same gauge and sensor from day 1, zero issues. I did move the install location from the 4th runner (ex egr) to a place where all four runners meet (ex o2 sensor), other than that everything is absolutely the same since day 1.

So did you remove your stock 02? Im not understanding how the ecu can try to compensate adjustment if there are no 02 readouts wired back to the ecu? Thanks in advance
@d4a6 жыл бұрын
This isn't connected to the ECU. It's for afr display purposes, so I can tune my carbs :)

Hey, I have some questions about AEM gauge that maybe you can help. Does that model has any way to data log to a laptop? Does it have any narrow band simulated output signal? I need a solution for an old car, old ecu.
@d4a4 жыл бұрын
It can log, but not by itself, you need a data logger to hook it up to. No simulated narrow band as far as I know.
@2be3794 жыл бұрын
If you put the Aem sensor into the manifold. What happen to the original sensor cable?
@d4a4 жыл бұрын
You can just tuck and zip tie it somewhere if you want to keep it, or you can remove it completely. Alternatively, you can have both sensors in the manifold by welding in a separate bung for the aem sensor. In my case I actually installed the aem sensor in the EGR hole of the manifold, it stayed there for a while along with the factory o2 in its stock position. There's a lot of options depending on what you're after.

Is it possible to get the stock ecu to read the wideband?

I'd love to help out all the channels I'm subbed to on Patreon, but I can't afford it. Maybe if patreon did a $30/month plan and you could sub to 30 channels? Plans, I say do a respray. Maybe get some cheap wheels and customize them. Lighten and dress them up. If you're pretty handy there's lots you can do for cheap. Love the channel and don't want to see it end.

Calibration?
@d4a6 жыл бұрын
No need. Here's a the part about calibration copy pasted from the manual: "The supplied UEGO sensor is factory calibrated via a trim resistor, integral to the sensor connector, and requires no further calibration. The ability to perform a free air calibration is provided for users that wish to do so. "
