Big Problem. Since you tapped the switch line to your exhaust fan, every time you turn off your fan you’ll interrupt your new GFCI outlet turning it off. You then have to reach down and press the little reset button on the outlet each time you use the crapper.

@@cajunomics3 Need a wire that is always hot (line), not a wire tied to a switch (load).

14 gauge is primarily for light fixtures or lower wattage applications. For a new receptacle I would use 12/2 gauge.

14 gauge wire is fine for a 15 amp circuit, 12 gauge for a 20 amp circuit.

Since you tapped into a switched appliance, you’re going to have to turn on the fan to use the toilet, and you can’t enjoy a pre heated seat OR warm water.

It doesn't take long to heat up around 1 to 2 minutes or less.

Why would you use 12/3 instead of 12/2?

Wouldn't this tie the bidet to the fan switch then?

Yup Yes it would!

I guess no one would need to bidet without the fan/light on anyways

Does the switch for the fan turn off the outlet as well?
@Self-taught_Therapy2 жыл бұрын
Yes, The exhaust fan switch turn off the outlet because I want to save power on the bidet toilet. You can tap in the main line before the exhaust switch if you want a regular outlet. Hope that answers your question.

Genious: You are in the attic with easy access to power source. eg, pull chain light, hence constant power that isn’t tied to a switch which in turn provides uninterrupted power to the gfci. So why connect an outlet to a fan that operates with a switch. Are we reconstructing the wheel!!!

How many watts does the bidet produce? Or how many amps does it draw?

Google it, most of them pull about 13amps

There is so much wrong with this install… Adding an outlet to a switched circuit. Using a metal outdoor junction box without clamps or wire bushings. Using a switch cover on the box. Using 14/3… Over stripping the wires such that bare wire extends beyond the outlet. What year did his house burn 🔥 down? Please, please, don’t leave it this way!
