3:36 the seal needs to be on top so the water from the counter doesn't drip down. 4:50 plug the wall plug 180 degree of what you did and the air hose is too bent so leave it a bit longer

I found one of these switches by Emmerson Electric. The customer was having a problem with the switch so I looked on Emmerson's website and found there is a recall on these switches. Water can get into the tube and over heat the switch. After contacting them they graciously provided a replacement as there is a recall on specific models.

Hey! Great video! Question though, what do you do with the switch that the garbage disposal is already wired to? Thanks so much for sharing!!
@berlinbuilds3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! For the switch the easiest option is to just leave it in the on position. You can also change the wiring with a splice kit in order to get rid of the switch and be able to patch it with sheetrock (depending on the area you are in if the building codes will let you cover splices. I hope that helps!
@globalgypsy7809 Жыл бұрын
If you have a wired switch to the under sink outlet you don't need to install anything else. Just install disposal, plug it in and use the wall switch already available. This option is for new installation that has no wall switch installed.

If you don’t want to drill a hole into the counter can you just leave the switch under the sink? And open the cabinet when you need to push ?

When an air switch is installed, would you leave a switch on or off to operator a disposer? In other words, what do you with the current toggle switch? No need to do anything or leave it on?

You should be able to leave the current switch in the “on” position. Whatever outlet the plug for the air switch goes into will need constant power 👍

Can you convert a hard wired disposal to air powered? If so, how?
@berlinbuilds4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you could use the wire that is going into the disposal and put in an outlet. You could then wire a whip or plug from the disposal, which you could then plug into the air switch plug. Then you’d take the air switch plug and plug it into the outlet. As I read what I wrote it sounds confusing, but I’m not sure of a better way to explain it. Probably the best solution is to ask an electrician if he is able to help you get an outlet in your sink cabinet and a whip attached to your disposal.

Nice job but his head is blocking an important part.Does anyone know exactly what he had to do up top?Why didn't he do it when he was on the other side on the top of the counter?

Is it pretty easy to remove the hose from the switch? I need to move my switch to a different hole. Do I just pull the hose off the switch, move the switch to the new hole, and then push the hose back onto the button? Is it that easy? Or removal is tricky?

It’s pretty easy. Just twist as you pull it off.

My switch is on the wall, and my disposal is hardwired underneath. Looks like I would need to have an outlet installed underneath and a plug added to my disposal (which we already cut off to hardwire). What would we do with the wall switch? Thanks
@berlinbuilds3 жыл бұрын
That’s kind of a tricky one. By code my understanding is you have to blank off that switch unless you are able to get rid of the wires that were there. Are you doing the electrical changes yourself or hiring that out?
