How to: Install an Amp & Subwoofer in your Audi or Any Make

I needed this video for the RCA hook up! Great video man! The only difference I had was I had to run my remote wire to the driver side fuse panel. For sum reason my fuse setup in the trunk was a little different. Only had like 3 rows of fuses instead of 4 and they where always all on.

Good tutorial however should really use a line out converter for the best signal. Sending already amplified signal to your low level input on the amp will clip the sub.

Not a good tutorial at all really. Running a high level input into the amp low level input is not the correct way to do this. The best way is to send a full range signal to the amplifier that is converted to low level. Use the crossover in the amplifier to low pass the subwoofer. There are products made that can sum the signal from the factory amplifier to make a full range signal.

I will like to know if you can install mida range loud speaker with amplifier in A4 also and how will you connect the midrange speakers like you do the sub if it's possible

So if you’re doing door, dash speaker replacement, do research and look into the audio diagram. It is possible but this video is purely on subwoofer connection. If I’m correct there’s about 8-12 different speakers ranging from low-mids and highs which is your tweeters in the B8 A4. My apologies for the late response

You might want to check your polarity. You used the “lettering” wire as Positive when connecting to the factory sub . Then used it as Negative to connect it to the Striped sub in the box.🤔 I always use wires with lines or lettering as Negative.

i want to remove the stock sub and place my own in its place, should i connect the original sub wire to the high or low lever input as my sub supports both, previously i tried wiring it up to the speaker wires before the original amp but had issues where the amp would go into protect mode as soon as the volume is increased but i'm not sure why tho

Hi my stock subwoofer doesn’t have the option to connect rca audio wiring to spade connectors do you know if there’s any other way around this? Audi A4 B6 2003.

You’ll have to tap into the radio for rca, there’s a way to do it with the amplifier as well, I highly recommend looking into the audio diagram and seeing what you can work with before making cuts.

When you tapped into the sub is that just regular speaker wire you used , any to lengthen it you just used a different brand of speaker wire? just wanted to make sure so I could basically just use long speaker wire to tap into the sub instead of using 2 different wires like you did

Yes, you can use any type of speaker wire

Hey at the 3 minute mark in the video I see you're connecting the wires to the existing subwoofer....What is the name of that type of connector? And the wires that you used for that? I have my aftermarket subwoofer in a box already and just need to get past that part

Did you have issues of your stock sub drawing too much power I hooked mine up and its farting the subs are getting power but too much is going to my stock sub

Only thing I wired from stock sub was the signal wire (RCA) to the amp which gives little to no power, all the RCA is doing is transmitting the signal from the stock sub to the amp. So if you wired it up exactly like that then it shouldn’t be happening if otherwise then I recommend wiring it like I mentioned on the video which is the same way I mentioned here.

What can you do if there is no place to connect the speaker wire to the factory sub?

If there isn’t a connection for the RCA you’ll have to do it from the radio going back, I recommend doing more research with the radio and wire diagram before cutting up anything. My apologies for the late response

I would recommend looking into the audio diagram, doing research for the RCA wires. Most likely from the radio or amplifier, as mentioned do research before cutting into anything.

You can find speaker wire on Amazon but make sure it’s OFC as it’ll have better quality.

Hey bro this a long shot but i think my stock amp went out. Would doing this set up bypass the stock ampvand have all the speakers working or what would do?

I would recommend fixing the issue, if you want to run the whole system off an aftermarket amp then it would have to deal with passing wiring from every speaker to the aftermarket amp. It’s complexed as it sounds and me personally I would just get the original amp for the speakers then do the sub setup aside from the original setup.

I would also double check to make sure it did indeed go out before you start to replace parts.

Yes, I used red as positive. I no longer use the amplifier shown on the video but usually red is going to be your positive.

No, you can run the oem and aftermarket subwoofer at the same time since the oem subwoofer has its on amp from the aftermarket subwoofer. RCA is pure signal wire.

I was an idiot and accidentally wired it so that my stock sub in the trunk got amplified to 1200 watts instead… it took me two days to realize haha but now I have to fix it

It should work if the Q5 has the same/similar oem subwoofer setup, look up the audio diagram before anything.

Seems like your plus is going directly from the battery terminal, to the amplifier, with no fuse taken in mind. While this would absolutely work, have you had any considerations there?

This has nothing to do with the stock sub except tapping into the RCA signal. Only way is if you’re feeding the stock subwoofer more amps from the aftermarket amp. The stock subwoofer has a stock amp installed already for its power.

If you use amplified signal you need connect wires to high level input and don't need remote wire...

You need remote wire to turn on the amplifier, I am using the OEM subwoofer signal for the sound not the OEM Amplifier signal. If you run it straight like you mentioned there’s a chance the amplifier will be on 24/7 draining the battery.

My sub has been randomly coming on and off and the sub only runs for one minute. I went through all the settings I’ve unplugged the wire to the sub several times. I don’t know if there’s a wire that isn’t fully connected to the amplifier but if somebody’s knows a lot about subs let me know 👍
