I have the exact same Bayou. Funny, I went to KZbin to get pointers on installation in a generic fashion and I got a tutorial on actual installation on the same atv.

Did your winch come with a solenoid? I grabbed Champion winch from Fleet farm but it didn't have one, is that something I need to buy separate like the mounting plate?

So I have been looking into some upgrades for my 2007 Honda rancher 420, and I was wondering what the best upgrade would be? I would just get tires but the rear rims on these came with 11 inch rims and I cant find a 25 inch tire for it. Id have to buy rims too. So here is what I have been looking at: front bumper $150, winch $200, light bar $60, extra fuel tank $100, tires and rims $500. Tires are a little pricey. I ride hard pack trails 90 percent of the time, and quite a bit of pavement too. BTW my ties still have 65 percent tread left. I figured you were a knowledgeable guy so i would ask!

Thanks for the comment! All the upgrades sound great! If you ride by yourself and have no help getting out of the woods.... winch and extra fuel would be first pick. If that's not the case a light bar is relatively inexpensive for the amount of performance, a lot of bang for the $$$. They do make some universal plates, although model specific general have a better fit and finish look.

next time put the rubber protectors on the end of the wires before you bolt the 4 wires onto the selenoid box. then you won't have to unbolt then rebolt.

Your 1990 is very, very clean for the year model and still has the factory tires! Nice job keeping it looking good, these workhorses are getting hard to find. See you have a winch, did you have issues with the winch mounting plate on yours?

The winch mounting plate was a little hard to get on.I had to make some new holes to make it work.

The Bayou we installed this on had aux keyed hot leads built into the harness. If you can't find any and don't want to splice in somewhere a toggle switch could be used. Thanks for the comment.
