Thanks for the video! My helix had the same problem and it now starts as soon as you hit the starter button. This makes me happy. Thanks again.😊

Many thanks for your post. Have been struggling with starting my Helix for a long time. Two scooter mechanics looked at it with no improvement. I followed your video and it started up right away. Good job.

Hey again, and another job well done! I replaced mine about 2 years ago at the same time I replaced the original intake manifold so I was able to tilt the carburetor towards the side for a little better installation access and get to the 2 micro screws. It starts a lot quicker too when driven frequently but is still a little slower after it sits for a longer period of time like just after the winter which I believe is caused from the gasoline being syphoned somewhat back down through the fuel line until it is primed once again.
@MacrossGarage2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yea it would probably be easier if the carb was off. I think the gas does eventually drain back down to the tank but I am not sure if there fuel pump help it put the gas back up.
@LastOfTheLeatherAge2 жыл бұрын
I'd check your spark plug cable too, a loose connection can cause the bike to have a hard time with cold starts. if you give the bike some gas and wait a few seconds for the lines to fill cold starting is a lot easier. I've been riding mine around Massachusetts for the last month now that gas is stupid expensive, I do full grocery shops for my family on mine. I often ride when it's only 35 degrees out, i got one of those tall Givi windshields and it's been great at keeping me warm.

The first think i worked on was the spark plug and replaced it and the cold starts were still hard. Does the helix have a fuel pump? After I replaced the choke it start fine now. I put a rear box on my Helix for the same thing, to get groceries with it. Thanks for your advice. Ride safe.
@JonathanB8222 жыл бұрын
@@MacrossGarage Helix does have a fuel pump, its electronic and sits right under the intake funnel area. You'll see it with a intake hose coming from the gas tank and the output hose going up to the left hand side of the carburetor(if looking from the front of the carb)

My helix had a loose autobystarter so I replaced with a new China part.. then it had long cranks to start. Put the old loose one from 87 in and starts ona dime… always a gamble with these parts .. good luck guys .. hail the helix.

I'd love to see a slow video looking at different angles of the engine. Gotta check the air filter on my 97 Helix (watched your other video already)...and might as well make sure all my components are where their supposed to be.

Hi, perfect :) thanks! i just ordered a new carb for my 1993 helix (it sounds just like yours on start up before the fix). Now, instead of replacing the whole assembly, I will now just see if the choke is the issue.

hello, thanks to your video I was able to know what some wires are for, now it doesn't work, can you help me locate where one more wire is connected? It is black with a red line, it is located with the group of the red connector with which the electronic valve connects. I have it cut off and I don't know where it connects, it comes from the cdi
@MacrossGarage2 жыл бұрын
You should look at the Helix wiring diagram. If I understand you correctly, that wire might go to the alternator. But I am not sure until I see it.
@juanfrias36042 жыл бұрын
@@MacrossGarage Thanks, I'm trying to save it. The pulse signal is already arriving at the cables that connect to the high coil (with a test focus), leaving the focus and connecting to the coil something strange happens, it no longer sends pulses. the high voltage coil has continuity between its connectors (supposedly that is how it has to be) so the negative signal goes to the positive and there is no spark, is that normal?
@MacrossGarage2 жыл бұрын
@@juanfrias3604 Sorry I am not understanding everything you are describing. If you are getting a pulse signal at the coil then the coil might be bad.

Was that a Chinese autobystarter? My Helix was also having kind of a hard time starting on cold starts, but nothing like yours. I bought a new Honda Auto by starter ($75) and it still didn't fix it completely? It does start better but not like it should on cold starts.

So my 86 cuts off whenever I put it on the center stand or if I ride through my yard (over lots of bumps) ANY idea what could be causing this? Other than that the bike is SPECTACULAR but literally I can ride 180 miles straight, stop for gas, put it on the center stand and it’ll die out and cut off… makes no sense too me, I also think my auto choke isn’t working properly because it doesn’t idol up very much when you crank it for the first time , I have to kinda give it gas to get it going
@MacrossGarage2 жыл бұрын
It should only cut off with the side stand. Check the side stand sensor. It maybe loose. Or the wiring for it. Let me know what you find. Thank you.
@predator_boiz3362 жыл бұрын
@@MacrossGarage my 86 doesn’t have a side stand sensor , I have a light on the dash for it but it doesn’t come on and I can start the bike fine with the side stand down, what I mean is the bike will run great, I can put it on or take it off the center stand and it will almost stall out it feels like, hell I can ride through my bumpy yard and the bike will shut off , hit a speed bump going slow enough it will cut off, hell I can crank it and shake the bike back and forth and it’ll cut off, no idea what’s causing it though , stands don’t have to be down at all for this to happen , it has to do with it he bike not being able to take bigs bumps of any kind without shutting down
@MacrossGarage2 жыл бұрын
@@predator_boiz336 Ok gotcha. Something must be loose. Something simple if you haven't already is checking the spark. Check the plug and the wiring. My second guess would be to make sure your fuel system is good. Not sure how good you are with taking the Helix apart but you may need to. Also the Helix shouldn't be able to start with the side stand down.
