We own an 05 V6 Sedan that doesn't have the air vent in the fender. Do you think the intake would still work well down there? Was thinking of swapping a bumper from a coupe, but don't know if it'll fit.
@AJSWoodworks
@AJSWoodworks 3 жыл бұрын
It may not work as well, but it will still be better than bringing an air from the engine bay. I believe the stock intake on the sedan still takes it from the wheel well. Switching out the bumper is a good idea, but yeah, I don’t know if it would fit or not.

How did it sound? Were there any leaks? How long did this take? This product replaces the need for the factory air filter?
@AJSWoodworks
@AJSWoodworks 5 жыл бұрын
It sounds great. It whistles at around 2000 rpm, and adds some roar when it hits high rpm. No leaks, and no issues 2 years later. It took longer a couple hours, but I could do it much quicker now that I know how simple it actually is. Yes, it replaces the entire air cleaner assembly, and comes with its own filter.

Thinking about getting this for my own 2004 V6 Accord Coupe, but I saw some notable cons against it online. Did installing it make your check engine light come on? Also do you actually notice an increase in acceleration performance? Answers would be huge, thanks
@AJSWoodworks
@AJSWoodworks 3 жыл бұрын
It didn’t cause any lights to come on at all. As a precaution, I also put the hydroshield on the filter to prevent water getting sucked in (likely why someone’s check engine light would come on). I did notice that it breathed better. I could tell that it had more mid to top end power (over 3000 rpm or so). But allowing it to breathe better should technically help at all levels. I still have it running on my accord with no issues a few years later. I recommend it.

This setup is exactly how my 06 accord is the only thing i have a problem is that when im going around 30-40 i can hear the intake hissing wanting to get more air did you leave the fog lights off so more airflow can enter? As well im going to need a filter guard for water cuz my car is lowered
@AJSWoodworks
@AJSWoodworks Жыл бұрын
I don’t think it’s hissing because it’s trying to get more air, I think it’s just the amount of airflow that it’s getting causes that noise. My car didn’t come with fog lights, it actually came with a fake vent on the passenger side and an actual vent on the driver side, which makes my cold air intake much more efficient. I my car is lowered as well, and I’ve had good success with the filter guard.

@AJSWoodworks
@AJSWoodworks 6 жыл бұрын
adrian Perez I believe the old intake was cooled by the cars coolant system through that small tube. That’s why there was some green antifreeze/coolant. The cold air intake doesn’t use the coolant system, so the two tubes can be connected, bypassing the air intake.

Sometimes an aftermarket performance part will shift the powerband. The question is, do you have more power up high. Cold air intakes are a hit and miss mod. I recommend that you use the hydro shield just in case. I don't know how it performs without it, but I don't want to risk it. A lot of rigmarole for something that doesn't add any horsepower at all.
@AJSWoodworks
@AJSWoodworks 8 жыл бұрын
I don't think either of us have personal proof of either side of the argument. Injen has a dynosheet showing that it adds about 15 hp and 12 ft-lbs of torque at 6700 rpm on an Acura TL. I can't say that I have the same gain as that car because I haven't put it on the dyno, but I can say that my car accelerates easier. And, even if the air intake doesn't increase HP (which I personally think it does), it vastly improves the efficiency of the air intake system and weighs less. That alone would be enough of a reason to upgrade.
@Calbenmike
@Calbenmike 8 жыл бұрын
AJS Woodworks There is enough proof on KZbin to prove my point. There are some instances where it decreases horsepower.
@AJSWoodworks
@AJSWoodworks 8 жыл бұрын
I agree that in some instances it decreases horsepower, but I haven't seen any of those tests with my car. There are plenty of tests and dyno sheets that show an increase in horsepower, so I think it has more to do with the car and the environment around the car (ex. heat). But once again, if you look at the stock air box compared to the cold air intake, you will see why the cold air intake is a better system for efficiency. However, neither of us have personal proof that it increases or decreases power on my car.
