really considering one of these; quick question: do you think you could increase the power gains/efficiency with some ducting? the intake looks like it's drawing air just from the engine bay, which i'd guess gets pretty hot. a heat shield and some ducting would, in theory, allow better airflow as well as cooler air to pass in. a rear-mount battery would open up the perfect spot to route air from the front bumper.

There was air coming in through the bumper duct.... and I would have loved to do the other things you talked about but unfortunately I had an accident in that car two weeks ago and the insurance company totaled it. sorry it took me so long to get back, but i've recently started digging into my own engine bay for a tune-up and some modest modifications for better throttle response. i've discovered on the 06-07, there's a fake vent in the bumper, and when removed, points right at the intake resonator. speaking of the intake resonator, that has a hole pointed at the ground. it's not really effective at all for drawing in any air at speed. so i yanked mine out! the stock airbox has a hole that now points roughly toward that front bumper vent. for cosmetics, i opted to keep the vent in there, but i cut out the back so there's actually a functional hole in there, but it still looks OEM. this vent's area is a little bigger than the area of the airbox's intake hole, which is perfect. once the piece of flexible tubing arrives, i'll install it and route it from the bumper vent to the airbox. even without the duct, the throttle response is much sharper now and a lot of it is thanks to the fact the bumper is feeding air into the space where the airbox is drawing from. to further improve throttle response, i took a dremel tool to my throttle body earlier today and went crazy polishing it. the difference in throttle response now is absolutely incredible. it doesn't make the car much faster, but it does improve the feedback, making it much more fun to drive. i'm really proud of how this car is coming along, i'll have to put up a video soon.

Hey Pedro, thank you for this install video, really helpful! How do you wash the filter and at how many mile intervals? Also, if I wanted, could I purchase another brand filter (like a K&N cone air filter and place it at the end of the aluminum tube) in place of the filter that comes with the kit? Just wanted to know if it should fit. Also, any problems so far after installation? Any error codes or engine running weird? Thanks in advance and sorry for so many questions haha

Hey dude, I would treat it like an K & N filter...the only brand of cleaner and oil I have found is K & N. I will look into it more. A K & N air filter cleaning kit will come with cleaner , oil and instructions.....but now that you mention it I think I will do a video on it as well....as far as filters go i am told that you can use any brand so long as it fits the pipe....which is 3 inches outside diameter....also i am sure you could use different couplings to use other sizes if you wanted to do so...I hope this helps...anything else just let me know.

I recently just purchased a used 2004 Honda Accord lx. Lacks a vtec engine but the transmission and motor was recently replaced totaling the miles at around 87k. I am not very mechanically inclined but am very interested on making modifications and improvements on my car! I was wondering, what benefit do you get from replacing the cold air intake?

LCWolf the only thing I know for sure is that I got a min. Of 2 more mpg. I travel for a living so that makes a big difference for me. The only other thing is supposed to be more horse power. I don’t have any way to test that and she always had a pep in her step. She sounded great too. Unfortunately I have totaled that car not long ago so I no longer have it.

Hello, i have this same kit. Used your vid for the install, very helpful! I was wondering if you knew how and or where to install the brackets that came with the kit. I can't seem to figure out where they're supposed to be bolted into the car or intake. Thanks!

Glad the video helped. I didn't need or use the brackets either. I assumed they were for a different year model than mine. Where did you buy the kit from? I bought mine on amazon. If you did you can contact the seller and ask them. The only thing I can think of is to hold the filter up so it isn't just resting in the compartment. I was going to try and rig something for that but the car has run fine since the install and I don't seem to have any problems with it.

I am not a mechanic and never had it tested but it sure seemed like it to me...it just felt like it had more get up and go. The car was fast anyways but I did like the I did like the performance of this product. Unfortunately I have totaled the car since....not happy about it!

I installed the kit but three days later my car had a check engine light with a code reading that it's running lean. Any idea why or how to fix?

Gloo I am not sure, to this day I have not had any trouble with mine. The only thing I can think of is a loose hose or clamp. Or maybe your mass air sensor. Make sure everything is nice and tight. Most auto parts stores will check that light and give you a code that will tell you what your problem is at no cost.

Had the same issue with an identical kit, the pipe is bigger than stock and it runs too lean to compensate. A smaller pipe is the only fix. I ended up using the stock airbox top with the metal pipe to the throttle body and it sounds the same with no MAF issues.

Don’t these items completely change the airflow intake from the intake with the original air box? If so, you’ll most likely have all kinds of technical problems b/c the computer and engine is setup for the original air box intake. So the computer will be “confused” with one of these. They use these items for racing vehicles, which are dyno tuned.

Totally agree no real hp gains on a stock platform.. I had a guy put one on his 06 accord and it absolutely killed his low end torque, he gained top end but In my opinion not worth losing the low end unless you're roll racing above 50 mph ..

All I could think of is a loose hose connection or maybe the airflow sensor? I am not a mechanic so that is just what I am thinking from experience dealing with engines at an amateur level. The only thing I can think of is that there my be a gap in your hoses somewhere? I didn’t have any issues…did you reinstall the air flow sensor.

Hey I put this exact intake in my car 05 accord, and its getting CEL P0171 Bank 1 Lean, meaning my fuel is running lean, i checked for leaks and found nothing. I think it may be the ECU cant handle the amount of air. The code popped up a couple weeks after installing the intake. A chip is coming in the mail to allow the ECU to use more fuel, hope that fixes it. Anyone else have this issue?

Installed the exact same short ram air intake on my 2005 Accord nothing but check engine lights and the car running lean save yourself some time and don't put it on a car that's not gonna be Dyno'd & tuned, guarantee this guy put his factory intake back on

Yes as long as it is the 2.4l engine it will fit regardless of coupe or sedan

You can eliminate all factory hoses that you connected too and it will be fine, I have the same intake and I removed that air chamber with hose and used the ones provided, gives a deeper tone when you accelerate
