Wow, great video! I’m looking into doing this myself and needed some guidance and a step by step walkthrough. This was super helpful!!

Nice! I like that you made “mistakes” and found ways to fix! A new sub! 👍🏻😁

Hey Man, thanks for making this video. I just bought a Game Boy SP and I plan on Re Shelling it and eventually installing an IPS display. The process seems relatively easy and the results looks amazing!

used this as reference for the soldering, thanks a bunch! :D

That’s why I think a lot of guys are just getting the pre cut shell when they install a funnyplaying IPS some other may fit better and require less maintenance looking to start my first build thanks

Great video and very informative. Will look to do the same with my original shell SP.

Great video! I have an old red AGS 001, and I want to buy the IPS kit and an aftermarket emerald shell which I would have to cut, so it was great to see how to actually do that. Do you know what brightness it would be on without soldering? I don’t have a soldering kit but I want to do this mod. Or if you can get the brightness settings to work without soldering?

At what brightness is it stuck at if you don’t do the soldering?

Hey there! I just got my IPS kit and was really excited... however, I have the EXACT same problem as you. I put the LCD in and connected the motherboard to the screen, but it wouldn’t turn on... the sound was working but the screen wouldn’t do a thing... It’s very discouraging because I cant seem to fix it. Can you please tell me what you did in order to get your screen to work? Thanks!

Okay thanks! I actually have fiddled with this for about a day and a half and no luck... but I will still keep on trying. I appreciate it.

Hey! Actually, no... you see the problem was that the tiny connector on the bottom of the LCD was ripped somehow. Therefore once I had tested it, with the PCB and everything... nothing seemed to work. But I appreciate you checking in! Thanks.

My question is does the back light work without putting in that single wire
@MattPassarelli2 жыл бұрын
Backlight should work. But it’ll be stuck on the default “5” level of brightness. Or whatever the default is.
@rosx_84463 жыл бұрын
do you need to solder?
@MattPassarelli3 жыл бұрын
Technically no. But without solder, you won't have brightness control of the screen. I think it defaults to 5/10, half brightness, without the button connected.

I used portions of this to complete the mod. The results were spectacular! Thanks!
