When downloading ubuntu I actually suggest downloading Lts version cuz u get 5 years of support and I think more 5 years of extended support so u don't need to update for 10 years. The interim releases have the latest software but only have 9 months of support and u will then have to update to get support. If u don't mind updating ur pc every 9 months then go with interim release.

Currently, Samsung only provides tools for their NVME Drives for Windows :( There is a bottleneck when this awesome drive is used for Linux. I was really hoping that this video could help me identify and rectify it. Anyone happen to have an applied tool experience?

@VincentHermes Жыл бұрын
You should not disable swap as this is the buffer you have if your memory is filling. If your memory reaches critical point and you dont have swap, processes will be killed by OOM error. Especially on nvme there is no drawback of using swap.

Good evening, Badinfos. This may be off topic but, I just wanted to say I have deleted my comment on your Top 5 Best Games of 2006 (regarding Need for Speed: Carbon). I have been thinking quite a lot about this game lately, reminiscing of when I used to play it, sheer amount of excellence in soundtrack (which is the best in the series in my opinion), gameplay, characters, customization, police pursuits etc. I don't know if this is permitted or not, but I suggest you watch Raycevick's Need for Speed: Carbon...15 years later video, and judge it for yourself. I regretted every single thing I have said about this game, where it has now become one of my favorites in the series. Anyways, take care.

I wouldn't recommend turning on fast boot since it disables the button options for entering boot manager or bios. You get more trouble with it than it helps.
@Badinfos3 жыл бұрын
There are ways of turning it back on and if you DO need it back you can bring it back. Having it OFF saves you time in the long run. But of course it's up to you, it's your PC, you do what you find best.
@TheDJZeroX3 жыл бұрын
@@Badinfos Yes, but since this is a tutorial for beginner I wouldn't recommend someone something to turn on while not mentioning how to turn it off. I'm speaking of experience. It did cost me a lot more time to disable fast boot to access BIOS again that it saved me while booting. ;)

welp, I downloaded ubuntu from distrowatch onto a DVD and installed 20.04 on an NVMe 500gig about 2 years ago on a Asus Z97 Pro wifi GTX 970, 8 gigs ram yadda yadda.. they said you must perform a raid install, well I didn't, it didn't want to boot up, so I got in the CMOS and moved things around and it would boot but not normally, I kept getting errors, and I kept sending them in to support, in fact I just went automatic it happened so much, slowly but surely they figured it out and it not only boots up normally now but it actually recognizes it as an NVMe but it display it, you know how the boot splash says where its booting ubuntu up dsk 0 whatever, it says NVMe bus whatever at first it was annoying as it was booting up to my CMOS every time as I shut down every day, and upon boot up it would go straight to the bios due to major conflicts, yes Asus BIOS are pretty good I prefer them all day long for Nix, I figured out I just had to move the NVME to the top of the list and adjust a few other settings and then it would boot to the command prompt, from there I would just startX login and go, I did this for months, however each boot up I would get a few conflicts, and asked if I wanted to send it in to support and I did, after about 8 months they finally have it straight, I have it set up in the BIOS just like an spinner.. before i installed I searched and everyone said install as raid so on so forth I never did, I just forgot and BTT I was done I did not want to star over, but they sorted it for me, something they needed to do anyways, as the boot loader forget what i am using Grub I believe wasn't recognizing the M.2 or the NVMe one or the other, or it kept kicking it out of the boot order for some reason, Grub would, why on boot up it would make it to the loader then the loader would kick me back to the BIOS apparently l knowing something was wrong but not knowing what.. it used to say booting to dsk0 whatever it as assigned but now it boots up saying NVMe on yaddda yadda .. they have it sorted I believe ti was just too soon for Grub and they hadn't worked out all the M.2s when I installed.. yet to plug in all my other drives, spinners, I have one SSD and 2 DVDs burners connected but the two spinners I unplugged to help eliminate the confusion.. I am sure i can connect everything fine at this point.. so don't think your feedback or whatever doesn't help, when asked if you want to send in conflicts and other issues do it because it helps your situation and they do get to it eventually, they must have been getting 3 or 4 a day form me so they got tired of it and dealt with it.. and TY Ubuntu and grub support you run a fine show for sure, I've used pretty much every flavor of Nix up to like 2010 when there was only 100 or so flavors... I started out on network installs from Berkeley free BSD like 1.9 whatever, and much enjoyed that, creating drivers or using wrappers for wireless all that fun stuff, manual configuring everything, Nix has come a long ways, a LONG ways, and today i don't believe there is anything to learn if you want to sue it, its real easy to use way easier than Doze thats for sure, and its not as bloated or heavy and its its not just a propaganda data mining OS, it actually does the job its supposed to do.. its actually better and easier than Doze because it has its own onboard software and program installer, so anything you want you just search it in your installer and then click install.. good to go.. today you can use Ubuntu and never even look at a console for sure, i still roll my own time to time just because old habits are hard to break .. but anyone can use and install ubuntu so easily.. dual boots are easy as well

An OS will always boot faster from a NVMe M.2 drive compared to a SATA SSD. Simply due to the limitations of SATA itself.

for god sake get the radiator to the top of your case. any air will collect at the top....
@Badinfos8 ай бұрын
Both methods of mounting (top or front) are completely fine and depend on your case and where you place it. The only thing you should not do is to mount it on the bottom. On my new PC build the radiator is on the top because it makes more sence with what I want to achieve with it and the space I have to work with. Again it doesn't metter where you mount it as long as your pump is below the highest point of the radiator.
