I can't find a single position on my brake levers where this works like in the video

It’s freaking hard 😂 I managed to do it by changing the side of the sticky part. Hope this helps

It seems to be a weak link to me , if that little magnet falls off and you lose it. What do you do?

I would tape it once you find the right spacing, seems they really didn't think that out for some reason.

I fixed them with glue gun.
